Looking for something to do this weekend? Then join the Florida Museum of Natural History for a celebration of wings and backyard things during our sixth annual ButterflyFest from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Oct. 22-23. This free, weekend festival offers family-friendly activities, presentations and live entertainment. Festival visitors can enjoy free presentations on area hummingbirds, bats in the Caribbean, the practice of eating insects and hear keynote speaker and Harvard lepidopterist Naomi Pierce.
Asian Kaleidoscope Month is excited to present 10 talented individuals competing in the Mr. and Miss AASU Scholarship Pageant 2011. The pageant segments this year include evening wear, culture, and talent. The pageant will also feature MISS FLORIDA 2011, Kristina Janolo, who will be competing for the title of Miss America 2012 this January! Doors open at 5:30pm, and the pageant starts promptly at 6:00pm in the Reitz Grand Ballroom. Join APIA Affairs on Thursday, October 20th to define your story as an APIA community member at UF. Defining and Affirming Asian American Identity is a facilitated discussion with interactive group activities and self-reflection exercises that aims to help you critically assess your own sense of identity and how this identity can lend to leadership skills. Refreshments will be provided. The event will take place from 6:30 to 8:30pm in Peabody 408.
Sustainability Tip of the Week: Vote. By voting, everyone can have a say in the direction the city, state and country is headed, and elected officials can be held accountable for the decisions they make.
