For my final project, the app I chose was Tangerine app. The app is used for health care
goals and helps in your self care journey. This app helps you mentally and physically, which is
the main reason I chose for the project in order to help achieve my goals. My goals were to drink
more water, walk more, and think more positively. I chose the goal of having a more positive
outlook on life because of the many benefits it has on your day to day life. For example, it helps
increase your lifespan, you develop greater resistance to illnesses, get better coping skills during
hardships and times of stress and overall better psychological and physical well-being.( Mayo
Clinic, 2022) I had a great time using the app these past few months and it definitely has its pros
and cons.
Like many apps available, Tangerine did have many pros and some cons. An issue that
was something different within the app was that in order to view better options, different icons/
journals, better stats and results you needed to upgrade the app. In order to upgrade the app, you
needed to purchase it with a yearly rate of $29.99 or $4.99 for just the month. Even though it was
not too much out of pocket expense, I would have liked to get a free trial for a month compared
to only 7 days . Another issue within the app was that there was no online app community and no
websites linked to the app with scientific based information in regards to giving you health goals
tips. I would have liked to see the app have this. Especially because in today’s market I feel that
including forums, help and advice columns makes it an even better app for everyone to share and
network. By enabling in app communities, this allows for sharing and among other things, such
as effective content sharing which promotes community involvement. This would also have live
streams, podcasts, and videos which can benefit an online community with similar self care
app would keep on reminding me daily to drink water. I was able to personalize this if the app
got too annoying so I only set myself 2 daily reminders to drink 2 cups of water each time.
Thanks to this I realized I went from drinking one cup to four daily. My steps were also tracked
daily. Unfortunately I was not able to see the process of it for previous weeks but I feel with the
reminders it helped motivate me. For my positive self care journey, I was able to write down my
feelings everyday with the gratitude journal which I was able to go back and read. The app made
it simple in choosing emoji to put how I felt. I also had a release anger journal which I thought
was helpful instead of putting it on others. Looking back I do feel like I have changed my
outlook to a more positive view. The app did help in my goals. Tangerine did let me create and
track habits while reminding me to do them and when completed it would help celebrate my
achievements. .I would not use this probably for more than 6 months, mostly short term use. I
This app did not take too much of my day. I was getting used to it sending me reminders.
Writing down my thoughts and feelings took less than ten minutes daily. I felt like I was getting
used to writing down my feelings and if I missed a day I felt like I missed an important
assignment due date. According to a study performed by the usage of Health apps, it was
concluded that by 'growing' with the user and adjusting to changing operating environments,
recommend it to any age group as it is user friendly and super simple to use. Anyone wanting to
work on self care goals would enjoy this easy simple app. App helped me track my mental
health and was able to send me daily reminders of my goals. This app did help me mentally and
physically, which is the main reason I chose for the project in order to help achieve my goals. I
would recommend this for a short term use and if they would like long term then it would be best
to purchase the app for the additional upgrades the app includes.
