A. Participants
- The contest is open to 2nd year to 4th year bona fide students of the
College of Civil engineering
- The quiz bee shall be conducted in two rounds: Elimination and Final
Round.
C. Elimination Round
1. All attendees are strictly not allowed to bring gadgets such as cameras, tablets,
cellular phones, or any other communication devices inside the hall
2. Anyone caught cheating in any form, upon the discretion of the professor or
proctor, shall be disqualified.
3. Write your final answer in two (2) decimal places. Answers must be with proper
units.

D. Final Round
- Passers from the Elimination round will then be grouped into 3 members
per team. Each team will be generated randomly.
1. All attendees are strictly not allowed to bring gadgets such as cameras, tablets,
cellular phones, or any other communication devices inside the hall. Participants
caught bringing said devices inside the venue will be disqualified.
2. Easy round is worth 1 point each question; Average Round is worth 2 points each
question; Difficult questions is worth 3 points each question. Scores per team shall
be added per round.
3. Each team shall be provided with five (5) scratch papers, board, an eraser, and a
marker before the final round. Participants may ask for additional papers or markers
if the provided items become insufficient. These items shall also be collected after
final round.
4. The questions shall be presented randomly. The field will be specified before each
question is delivered, and the time allotted will be specified before the question
statement.
5. Each question will be read twice before the timer starts but teams can start solving
as soon as the question is displayed on the screen.
6. All teams must raise their boards as soon as the time allotted elapses and the bell
rings.
o Easy - 30 seconds
o Average - 60 seconds
o Difficult - 90 seconds
8. Teams may start computing once the question is flashed. However, they must wait for
the GO signal from the quizmasters before they write their final answers on the
provided white board
9. To ensure uniformity and accuracy, numbers shall be rounded off only on the final
answer. For simplicity, when the number to the right of the rounding digit ranges from
five (5) to nine (9), always round up the rounding digit. Otherwise, round down the
rounding digit.
10. Unless otherwise stated (i.e. the question explicitly stated to express the answer in
whole numbers), the final answer should be stated in two (2) decimal places for
computational problems even if the resulting answer is a whole number. Answers in
more or less than the indicated decimal places will be considered incorrect.
11. For computational problems, final answers must indicate the proper unit as specified
in the problem. Only correct answers following the required form will be accepted.
13. For identification problems, answers shall be stated in complete words – spelled out
and spelled correctly. Acronyms will be considered incorrect unless otherwise
specified.
14. Answers shall not be erased unless all answers have been checked and all protests
have been resolved. The quizmaster shall announce when answers may be erased.
15. No audience will be allowed to stay inside hall during the final round to prevent any
possible distractions and disturbances.
16. Should ties exist for any place, a Clincher Round will commence.
- Each team will be given a chance to answer a question without a time limit. The
first team to get the correct answer will be declared as winners.
17. Committees from ACES will serve as the tabulator of the quiz bee.
3. Participants are not allowed to write or change answers once the time is
up. Teams proven guilty of the act will be given a first warning and will
receive a corresponding score of 0 for the question. A second offense will
result in automatic disqualification for the team.

5. After the correct answer has been revealed for each question, 15 seconds
will be allotted for the participants to raise their contentions. A timer will be
flashed on the screen and contentions must be raised within this time.
6. To challenge a question, one of the members of the team must raise their
hand. Once acknowledged by the quizmaster, the team shall be escorted
to the Panel of Judges table to address their concern.
9. After the 15-second timer, contentions from the participants will no longer
be entertained.
10. Event Committees has the right to suspend any participating team guilty of
misconduct during contentions.
11. Participants are urged to be professional at all times during the whole
duration of the event.
