Transit/Pre-Flight Check List


B737-8 Line Maintenance Check (Transit/Pre-Flight)
CAUTION: Any finding should be evaluated and if within limits should be recorded in (AFML) and deferred in (DDL)
if allowed in MEL, but for finding out of AMM limits should be rectified.
CAUTION: AFML signature must be done after completing the necessary maintenance task.

NO. WORK DESCRIPTION


1 Review AFML/cabin/deferred log books and perform corrective actions as required.
2 Check engine No.1 oil quantity cockpit indication (after 5 min from engine shutdown, but not greater than
30 min) and top as required. (REF: AMM 12-13-11-600-801).
3 Check engine No.2 oil quantity cockpit indication (after 5 min from engine shutdown, but not greater
than 30 min) and top as required. (REF: AMM 12-13-11-600-801).
4 Record the added oil quantities in AFML if topping is carried out.
Note: Maximum Engine Oil Consumption 0.74 qt (0.70 L)/ (REF: AMM Sub Task: 71-00-00-790-012-G00).

a) If the engine oil consumption increases slowly, suddenly, or is higher than 0.36 qt (0.34 L) per flight
hour, refer to IFIM and do the applicable procedure(s).

b) If the oil consumption suddenly decreases, goes to zero, or negative values, and the oil tank level
is unusually high, this can be an indication of abnormal system scavenge or fuel leaks into the oil
system, refer to IFIM and do the applicable procedure(s).
5 Check cockpit windows/windshields for condition (REF: AMM 56-11-00-200-803).
6 Check cockpit seats / seat belts for condition.
7 Carry out aircraft walk around for evidence of obvious damage per FCOM chapter Normal Procedure
21 Exterior Inspection.
8 Impact/F.O.D. for fuselage, wings and tail.
9 Fluid leakage for fuselage, wings and tail.
10 Missing/loose parts for fuselage, wings and tail.
11 Oxygen system discharge for presence.
12 Control surfaces damage / leakage & condition of static dischargers. (REF: AMM: 23-61-00-210-801).
13 Tail skid damage.
14 Obstruction of inlets/outlets.
15 Masts and drains for fluid leakage.
16 Check static ports, TAT and pitot static probes and angle of attack sensors for obvious damage.
17 Check nose and main landing gear tires, wheels and brakes for obvious damage.

18 Inspect Fan Case Module (REF: AMM 72-21-00-200-802),

19 Check thrust reversers, vortex generator exhaust tail plug, exhaust case struts, visible turbine blades on LPT
for obvious damage and evidence of metal and/or oil accumulation.
20 Check that fuel sample from refueling truck is water free.
21 Refuel A/C up to required dispatch quantity. (REF: AMM 12-11-00-650-802) & record the uplift fuel
quantity data in AFML.
22 Check that the fueling station door is secured.
23 Ensure servicing of fresh water system as required.
24 Ensure servicing of waste (toilet) system.
25 Check hydraulic system quantities / Service if required (REF: AMM 12-12-00-610-801).
26 Make sure that spare tires and Flyaway kit are properly secured.
27 Sign and Stamp Preflight / Transit Check Section of AFML / Transit check signature in AFML. certifying that
the maintenance specified above has been carried out in accordance with ICAR 18, Boeing Technical
documents such as AMM, IPC, Task Card Manuals etc.
28 Prior to engine start, check engine cowlings are locked and engine intakes are free from obstructions.
29 Ensure all ground and loading equipment removed and parked clear of aircraft path.
30 Check all passenger doors, cargo doors, service panels and access panels are closed and secured, and
surrounding areas are free of damage.
31 Ensure all L/G down lock pins are removed.
32 Ensure serviceable tow-bar correctly installed (if push back is required) and steering disconnect pin installed.
33 Ensure MLG chocks removed and NLG chocks positioned for easy removal. Ensure ground to cockpit
communication headset is connected and tested.
34 Remove NLG chocks to start push back.
35 After push back completed, ensure brakes are "SET" before removing tow-bar and then remove the steering
pin.
36 Shows the steering pin / flag to crew indicating aircraft clear to taxi out.
