You have to find a text (250-300 words), and make a PowerPoint (1-3 slides) and talk
about it or read on it for about 5 minutes in class. The text should be about nursing. We
start from third sessions. There is an example here for your consideration.
How to Prevent Constipation
Constipation occurs when bowel movements become less frequent and stools become
difficult to pass. It happens most often due to changes in diet or routine, or due to inadequate
intake of fibber.
The good news is that if you have mild constipation, simple lifestyle changes can help
manage the condition. Prevention tips include:
•Increasing your fibber intake: Fibber-rich foods, such as fruits, vegetables and whole
grains, all help improve gut function. If you have bowel sensitivity, you’ll want to avoid high-
fructose fruits, such as apples, pears and watermelon, which can cause gas.
•Getting more exercise: Regular exercise can help keep stool moving through the colon.
•Drinking more water: Aim for eight glasses daily, and avoid caffeine, as it can be
dehydrating.
•Go when you feel like it: When you feel the urge to go, don’t wait.
