Introduction

Thanks for purchasing this resource.

There is something amazing and mysterious about the variety of sounds and
emotions that can be created by superimposing Pentatonics on to different
chords.
I believe it is really worth taking the time to internalise and think about these
note /chord relationships before rushing to race up and down pentatonic
shapes.
I would recommend practicing and singing the Pentatonic scales in this book
with the Piano as a way to immerse the ear with the sounds.

There is a large amount of material here that is the result of 30 years happy
experimentation, so please be patient with yourself as it takes time to assim-
ilate the sounds deeply.

Using the Mp3 playalongs and book

There are 7 Basic chords that each Minor Pentatonic can be superimposed
over, as are shown in the main exercise book introduction and in this book.

The 7 are always grouped together in to ´families´ that share the same key
signature and that work together.

For example, practice the C minor Pentatonic exercises with any chords from
the C minor family ( Cmin7, Dbmaj7b5, Eb6, Fmin7, Eb over G bass , Abmaj7,
Bb7sus4)
Immerse youself in these deeply. There is no hurry.
Use a metronome if you wish and be sure to make up your own lines!
Use the patterns as starting places.
