SPEECH (PIDATO)

IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION IN INDONESIA

WRITTEN BY:
HANI FAUZIYAH RUSYANTI
XII MIPA 2 (18)
Good morning Mr. Karlan as an English teacher, and friends that I love.
I thank you for the opportunity that has been given to me to speak today,
in order to complete the English practice exam. I will give a speech
about improving the quality of education.
do you know? if Indonesia is far from its starting point. With the rapid
advancement of technology, this country has become more advanced
than before. The resources we have today are far more convenient than
those we had hundreds of years ago.
Our education system has fought tooth and nail to provide only the best
education. Access to education has been expanded, so that it can be
reached even by people in remote areas. We have improved
infrastructure such as buildings, books and even teachers. There are even
cities with no-pay school policies.
However, it is very unfortunate that problems such as bullying, student
brawls, drugs, free sex, and pregnancies outside of marriage often occur
among young people or students in this nation.
Undoubtedly, the result went against all efforts. Somehow, we are less
educated than before. We are less polite than before. We are less
respectful than before. We have done so much, yet we have achieved
nothing.
It's as if education in this country has lost its way to its main goal.
I believe that this country needs to take a step back to reassess and
redefine the ultimate goal of education itself, of what kind of person our
young generation will become in order to secure the future of this
country.
The ultimate goal should not be determined by simply adding up hours
spent at school, but by means of hours spent. How can the learning
process be a fun journey that doesn't add to the fatigue of students,
instead it makes them excited.
It should not be defined by adding schools, but by upgrading existing
ones. How schools can provide a conducive learning environment by
being supportive and understanding towards students, by reducing
seniority, by ending bullying
It should not be defined by how many exams they have to pass, but by
understanding that students have different interests and specialties. How
the system is flexible enough for students to explore what's on their mind
and develop their own ideas of success.
Education should not be limited to schools, but every aspect of life.
Therefore, the Indonesian nation must unite to provide an environment
that can support the realization of capable human beings who not only
excel in academics, but also have a high sense of justice, tolerance,
empathy, and overall high morals.
The future of this country depends on youth. But how, young people
become educated human beings, is the responsibility of every
Indonesian. On this historic day, let us all commit to creating a much
better education system based on our respective abilities and roles. Let's
improve quality and not just quantity.
so many speeches from me, thank you.
