A Electrical resistivity Test At-Grade Measurment

Allignement & measurement shall include uniform topography over

the limits of the electrode span.Large condutive bodies such as
ASTM G57-
frozen soil,boulders,concrete foundation & so forth shall not be

included.conductove structures such as pipes &cablesshall not with
section 7.1.1
in 1/2 a of electrode span unless they are at right angles to the
span.

Electrode spacing shall be selected with regards to the structures

of interest.pipelines shall be installed ar depth from 1.5-4.5m(5-

15ft) and electrode spacing 1.5,3.0&4.5m(5,10&15ft).spacing shall

Across the inner electrodes shall be recorded both the current & ASTM G57-
A3 voltage drop if seprated ammeter & voltmeter sre used.resistivity 06(2012)
meter shall be rocorded the resistance directly. section 7.1.3

Electrode spacing resistance or amperes or volts,date & time,air ASTM G57-

A4 temperature,topography,drainage & indication of contmination to 06(2012)
facilitate subsequent interpratation shall be recorded. section 7.1.4

B Electrical resistivity Test: Soil Sampling measurement

Sol samples shall represent of the area where the stratum of ASTM G57-
B1 interest soll box, ensuring air spaces are ellminated as far as 06(2012)
practicable. section 7.2.1

ASTM G57-
Resistivity measured shall be dependent on the degree of

compaction moisture content, constituent solubility, & temperature.

A stiff slurry of sample shall be prepared, adding only sufficient

water to produce a slight amount of surface water allowing to ASTM G57-
B3 evaporate before the slurry is remixed and effect of variations in 06(2012)
compaction and moisture content is reduced after fully sturating the section 7.2.2
sample.

Ground water from the sample excavation for saturation shall be

utlized or distilled water if ground water is unavailabe.

Ground tap water shall be utilized if soil resistivity is expected to be

 Surplus water shall not be poured off to avoid elimination of soluble ASTM G57-

be corrected if the measurement tempearture Is substantailly
