1 Manufacturing Organisation:
Within the ISO 9000 series of standards for quality systems, welding is to be treated as a "special process"
since welds cannot be fully verified by subsequent inspection and testing of the product to ensure that the
required quality standards have been met.
• Welded products are differently treated according to the specific needs of the welding manufacturing
process. Fabricators are assured of a welding quality system through implementation of ISO 3834.
• Implementation of ISO 3834 is the foundation for implementation international product standards like EN
15085, EN 1090, EN 13445 and CE marking
• The specific areas of competence (for personnel & companies) are explicitly encompassed and
registered in the schedule ISO 3834-2 & 3 clause no 7.3 and also specifically mentioned in ISO 3834-5

2. Guideline for Welding Coordination Personnel: Why required ?
• ISO: 14731-19 describes the “Tasks and Responsibilities”: in clause 4, “Job Description”: in Clause 5
and “Technical Knowledge & Competence”: in Clause 6 required for Welding Coordination Personnel.
• According to the definition of ISO 14731, competence is the ‘proven ability to use knowledge, skills and
personal and social/methodological abilities in work situation in terms of responsibility and autonomy at
three levels i.e. Comprehensive, Specific and Basic’. This is best fulfilled globally by IWE, IWT & IWS
qualifications of International Institute of Welding offered in India through IIW-India ANB.
Eligibility (Transition Criteria) for Qualification and Experience for each
level must be attained on or before 3rd-Jan-2011 and any experience or
qualification acquired after this date cannot be considered for eligibility
as per IIW-IAB rule and Guideline.
Only the country where the applicant has received his/her welding
qualification or where he/she is currently practising can be awarded the
certificate under this arrangement subject to rules approved for INDIA.
3. Transition Arrangement: Eligibility Criteria for IWE, IWT, IWS, IWP
Diploma Criteria for Transition to be attained as on 03 - 01 - 2011
Option 1:Degree in Engineering/AMIIW + M Tech/Ph.D. in Welding + 3 yrs.’ Practical Experience in job similar to
Engineer that of Welding Engineer.

(IWE) Option 2: Degree in Engineering/AMIIW + 8 yrs.’ experience out of which 5 yrs.’ Experience in job similar to that
of Welding Engineer.
Option 1: Diploma in Engineering in Mainstream Engg or with specialisation in Welding + 8 Years’ work experience
Technologist out of which 5 years in welding and last 3 yrs.’ Experience in job similar to that of Welding Technologist
2 Option 2: Degree in Engineering/AMIIW/AMIE/AIIM + 5 Years’ work experience out of which 3 yrs.’ Experience in
(IWT)
job similar to that of Welding Technologist.
Option 1:Professional Technician Certificate/IWP Diploma+ Welders Training Course + 3 yrs.’ Experience in job
Specialist similar to that of Welding Specialist.

(IWS) Option 2: B Sc./IWP Diploma+ 8 yrs.’ experience out of which 5 yrs.’ Experience in job similar to that of Welding
Specialist.
Option 1: Class X pass+ recognised welder training / IPW+ Valid welder approval as per ISO 9606/EN 287 for
plate or ASME Sec IX G + 8 Years’ Experience of which 3 years as welding Foreman or similar to job of
Practitioner
4 International Welding Practitioner
(IWP) Option 2:Class X pass+ IPW & Valid welder approval as per ISO 9606/EN 287 for plate or ASME Sec IX G+ 12
Years’ Experience of which 5 years as welding Foreman or similar to job of International Welding Practitioner
4. Enrolment, Registration for Online Transition Arrangement
During the current pandemic, under special rule of the International Institute of Welding, authorised
countries are allowed to offer the online option for qualification by Transition Arrangement under the same
terms and conditions as was applicable in the system which required physical attendance for refresher
course, written test and interview.The candidates will save on travel & hotel cost apart from need for taking
leave.
a. An otherwise eligible candidate fulfilling the criteria and duly assessed by an independent Assessment
committee, has now the option of undergoing the total qualification process online from the security of
home. They are responsible for arranging all hardware, software and internet connectivity with data.
b. The course consist of 20 lessons of 2 hours each delivered online at convenient times with opportunity
of interaction with Faculty members. The refresher course content touches the important topics of the
guideline IAB 252 keeping in mind that all the candidates are having practical job experience in welding
and related area at proper level.
c. On week days, only one lesson is delivered at late evening. On Saturdays and Sundays two lessons
may be delivered in the morning and afternoon keeping the evening free. (Currently on MS TEAM
Platform)
d. The written MCQ test (One hour) is conducted online through a secured portal, with the candidate sitting
at a secluded quite place at his/her home along with his/her own hardware duly connected. The test is
conducted by a professional expert organisation using candidates’ Microphone and Camera activated
for Artificial Intelligence (AI) proctoring.Refer to FORM 58 Declaration as essential from all candidates.
e. The oral examination or interview is also conducted online using secure Audio & Video platform by a
committee of experts to evaluate his actual job experience and knowledge to fulfil the competency
requirement as per ISO 14731. Interview may take about 30-40 minutes after identity verification.
f. The time spent for activities from b to e may be about 20-22 days, adjusted for the convenience of all.
g. The candidate has to pass the written test and also the interview, to be eligible for the IIW Diploma,
subject to his/her or their sponsoring organisation having cleared all fees and completed all related
issues.
h. The total Fees payable in advance for duly assessed Eligible Candidates remain unchanged;

The Fees mentioned exclude GST (Presently @18%, GST No:19AAATT5926E1ZC) to be charged. Sponsoring organisation may take tax advantage

Legible Soft Copies, correctly oriented for easy readability of all the listed documents below, are
to be put in an E Folder named[“candidate short name”_IWCP Application Online TR], and
then Folder uploaded in google drive and the link shared with anb@iiwindia.com to
reach before the last date of registration for assessment of eligibility. Please verify and
