LITURGY OF THE WORD

Please be seated for the Liturgy of the Word.

First Reading: ACTS 8:5-8, 14-17

A reading from Acts of the Apostles

Philip going down to the city of Samaria, preached

Christ unto them.

And the people, with one accord, were attentive to

those things which Philip said, hearing, and seeing
the miracles which he did.

And many unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice,

went out of many people who had them.

And many people who were paralyzed, and that

were lame, were healed. There was therefore great
joy in that city.

Now when the apostles, who were in Jerusalem,

had heard that Samaria had received the word of
God, they sent unto them Peter and John.
Who, when they came, prayed for them, that they
might receive the Holy Spirit.

For he was not as yet come upon any of them; but

they were only baptized in the name of the Lord
Jesus.

Then they laid their hands upon them, and they

received the Holy Spirit.

R:            The Word of the Lord.

A:         THANKS BE TO GOD.

Responsorial Psalm Ps 66:1-3, 4-5, 6-7, 16, 20

R. Let all the earth cry out to God with joy.

Shout joyfully to God, all the earth,

sing praise to the glory of his name;
proclaim his glorious praise.
Say to God, “How tremendous are your deeds!” R./

“Let all on earth worship and sing praise to you,

sing praise to your name!”
Come and see the works of God,
his tremendous deeds among the children of Adam.
Though deep waters overflow, they shall not reach
him. R./
He has changed the sea into dry land;
through the river they passed on foot;
therefore, let us rejoice in him.
He rules by his might forever. R./

Hear now, all you who fear God, while I declare

what he has done for me.
Blessed be God who refused me not
my prayer or his kindness! R./

Second Reading: 1 Peter 3:15-18

A reading from First letter of Saint Peter

Beloved: But sanctify the Lord Christ in your

hearts, being ready always to satisfy everyone that
asks you a reason of that hope which is in you.

But do it with gentleness and reverence, keeping

your conscience clear, so that, when you are
maligned, those who defame your good conduct in
Christ may themselves be put to shame.

For it is better doing well (if such be the will of

God) to suffer, than doing ill.

Because Christ also died once for our sins, the just
for the unjust: that he might offer us to God, being
put to death indeed in the flesh, but enlivened in
the spirit.

R:            The Word of the Lord.

A:         THANKS BE TO GOD.

Com: Let us all stand to honor the Holy Gospel.

Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia (TO BE SUNG)

Gospel John 14:15-21

P:              The Lord be with you.
Com:         AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT.

P:              A reading from the Holy Gospel according to

John
Com:         GLORY TO YOU, O LORD.

Priest:

Jesus said to his disciples: If you love me, keep my

commandments.

And I will ask the Father, and he shall give you

another Paraclete, that he may abide with you
forever.
The spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive
because it sees him not, nor knows him: but you
shall know him; because he shall abide with you,
and shall be in you.

I will not leave you orphans, I will come to you.

Yet a little while: and the world sees me no more.

But you see me: because I live, and you shall live.
In that day you shall know, that I am in my Father,
and you in me, and I in you.

He that has my commandments, and keeps them; it

is he that loves me. And he that loves me, shall be
loved of my Father: and I will love him, and will
manifest myself to him.

P:              The Gospel of the Lord.

Com:         PRAISE TO YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Com: Please be seated.

Com: Please all rise.

PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS

P:             Pray brethren, (brothers and sisters)

that my sacrifice and yours
may be acceptable to God,
the almighty Father.

Com:         MAY THE LORD ACCEPT THE SACRIFICE AT

YOUR HANDS FOR THE PRAISE AND GLORY
OF HIS NAME, FOR OUR GOOD, AND THE
GOOD OF ALL HIS HOLY CHURCH.

P:        O Lord our God, who once established these

created things to sustain us in our family, grant, we pray,
that they may become for us now the Sacrament of
eternal life. Through Christ our Lord.

Com:         AMEN.

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
P:              The Lord be with you.
Com:         AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT.

P:               Lift up your hearts.

Com:         WE LIFT THEM UP TO THE LORD.
P:              Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
Com:         IT IS RIGHT AND JUST.

P:      It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks, Father most
holy, through your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, your Word
through whom you made all things, whom you sent as our
Savior and Redeemer, incarnate by the Holy Spirit and
born of the Virgin.

Fulfilling your will and gaining for you a holy people, he

stretched out his hands as he endured his Passion, so as
to break the bonds of death and manifest the
resurrection.

And so, with the Angels and all the Saints

we declare your glory,
as with one voice we acclaim:

Com:         HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, LORD GOD OF HOST,

HEAVEN AND EARTH ARE FULL OF YOUR
GLORY. HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST.
BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME
OF THE LORD. HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST.
(TO BE SUNG)

Com: Let us all kneel/Remain standing.

P:              The priest, with hands extended says:
You are indeed Holy, O Lord,
the fount of all holiness.
He joins his hands and, holding them extended over the offerings, says:
Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,
by sending down your Spirit upon them like dewfall,
He joins his hands and makes the sign of the Cross once over the bread and the
chalice together saying:
so that they may become for us the + Body and Blood of
our Lord, Jesus Christ,
He joins his hands.

In the formulas that follow, the words of the Lord should be pronounced clearly
and distinctly, as the nature of these words requires.
At the time he was betrayed
and entered willingly into his Passion,
He takes the bread and, holding it slightly raised above the altar, continues:
he took bread and, giving you thanks, broke it,
and gave it to his disciples, saying:

He bows slightly.
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT,
FOR THIS IS MY BODY,
WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.

He shows consecrated host to the people, places it again on the paten, and
genuflects in adoration.

After this, he continues:

In a similar way, when supper was ended,
He takes the chalice and, holding it slightly raised above the altar, continues:
He took the chalice,
and, once more giving thanks,
he gave it to his disciples, saying:

He bows slightly.

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR

THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD
OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT, WHICH
WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY
FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.

DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

He shows the chalice to the people, places it on the corporal, and genuflects in
adoration.

Then he says:

The mystery of faith:

(TO BE SUNG)
(A) WE PROCLAIM YOUR DEATH, O LORD, AND
PROFESS YOUR RESURRECTION UNTIL YOU COME
AGAIN.
            (B)  WHEN WE EAT THIS BREAD AND DRINK
THIS CUP, WE PROCLAIM YOUR DEATH, O LORD,
UNTIL YOU COME AGAIN.
            (C)  SAVE US, SAVIOR OF THE WORLD, FOR BY
YOUR CROSS AND RESURRECTION YOU HAVE SET
US FREE.
Then the Priest, with hands extended, says:
Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and
Resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the
Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us
worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.

Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of

Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the

world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together
with N. our Pope and N. our Bishop and all the clergy.

Remember also our brothers and sisters

Who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
and all who have died in your mercy:
welcome them into the light of your face.
Have mercy on us all, we pray,
that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
with the blessed Apostles,
and all the Saints who have pleased you throughout the
ages, we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life,
and may praise and glorify you
He joins his hands
through your Son, Jesus Christ.

He takes the chalice and the paten with the host and raising both, he says:
P:           Through Him, and with Him, and in Him,
O God, almighty Father,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all glory and honor is yours,
for ever and ever.

GREAT AMEN. (TO BE SUNG)

graciously grant peace in our days,
that, by the help of your mercy,

Then he takes the host, breaks it over the paten, and places a small piece in the
chalice, saying quietly:

of our Lord Jesus Christ
bring eternal life to us who receive it.

Let us all kneel.

P:              Behold the lamb of God,

behold Him who takes away the sins of the
world.
Blessed are those called to the supper of the

Com:         LORD I AM NOT WORTHY THAT YOU

SHOULD ENTER UNDER MY ROOF, BUT
ONLY SAY THE WORD AND MY SOUL SHALL
BE HEALED.
