I. Chapter 7 – Answer the following questions. Write your answer inside the box.

1. Why were the Jewish religious leaders hostile toward Jesus?

Because the Jewish didn’t believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the
Jewish called to Jesus as a false prophet who led the people astray.

2. Describe Jesus’ gradual realization of His upcoming Passion and Death in His three predictions. How
did the apostles interpret these predictions?

Base on the third prediction, Jesus included specific details of His suffering.
Jesus was described to be walking ahead of the apostles which suggests the
intensity of His desire to fulfill His mission. The apostles were completely
confused yet they followed Jesus because they loved Him.

3. What does Jesus’ act of washing the feet of His apostles symbolize?

The mystery of divine forgiveness.


4. How did Jesus fulfill in a perfectly unique way the Jewish Passover meal on the night before He died?

When Jesus reclined at the table, he said, “I have eagerly desired to eat
this Passover with you before I suffer, for, I tell you, I shall not eat it again
until there is fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”

5. Why is Jesus’ commandment of Love considered new?

Jesus declared His new commandments of love during the Last Supper ever
as described in the Gospel of John. “I give you a new commandment: “Love
one another.” As I have loved you, so you also should love one another .
6. Discuss what the events of the Passion and Death of Jesus tell us about His person, message, and
mission.

When he arrived at the Mount of Olives, he said to them, ‘Pray that you
may not undergo the test.’ After withdrawing about a stone’s throw from
them and kneeling, he prayed, saying, ‘Father, if you are willing, take this
cup away from me; still, not my will but yours be done.’ The cup mentioned
by Jesus refers to the suffering and terrifying death and He was
about to face.

7. Who was responsible for death of Jesus?

Pilate handed Jesus over to the soldiers to be crucified.
