SUBJECT: Cummins INSITE 8.X.X software and INLINE hardware kits

Models affected: C876, D876, C877, D877, E876, E877, F876, F877

Reason: Cummins 8.X.X introduction

Technical Description:

INSITE software and INLINE hardware is required to assist Yale certified Technician Level II or III
engineers to troubleshoot and repair Cummins QSB engines.

The INLINE hardware kit connects the laptop to the engine’s motor management system to enable
communication. The INSITE software on the engineer’s laptop increases the engineer’s level of
making diagnoses, trouble shooting and making adjustments where required.

To obtain the INSITE software and ensure successful installation and operation, the
following procedure should be followed carefully.

Please select the required software and hardware from the table below. The hardware is
available through the European Parts Organisation in Nijmegen.

*The INLINE VI kit is compatible with laptops equipped with a serial or USB port. If Inline IV is still used
and only USB port is available source locally a USB to serial adapter. Previously Cummins has
recommended to use Bafo BF-810 (USB to DB9 serial adapter). For more information contact your IT
department or visit www.bafo.com. You might also try adaptor 580049165 (USB adapter for GM LPG
engines) which we experienced working OK.

New INSITE order procedures:

To have the INSITE software installed on the engineer’s PC, please follow instructions for renewal
and new registration.

New registration and renewal instructions

• Certification
1. Ensure your engineer has received the Yale Technician Level II or Yale Technician Level
III* certification for the appropriate Cummins engines.

2. Ensure your engineer’s full name and e-mail address is available for INSITE registration.

*depending on the level of certification, Cummins will decide which version will become available

3. Download the INSITE 8.0.0 Software from:

4. PC operation System must be either Windows 7 or 8, see for all requirements:

Follow the procedure below (5 to 7) to order the Cummins INSITE subscription directly from the
Technical Publications site via www.yaledealer.eu

7. After you have received the order confirmation from Techpubs@yale.com, you will receive
an order form. Fill in the order form and send this to
emea.customerassistance@cummins.com

8. Within 24 hours Cummins will send an e-mail to the engineer’s address.


i. If the subscription has been accepted the e-mail will contain a password and instructions
how to activate the Cummins INSITE software on your PC.
ii. If rejected, please check whether you provided all mandatory details and ask your Yale
(technical) representative whether your Technician level II or III certification has been
processed to Cummins. If mandatory details are missing or your certification has not yet
been completed, the registration needs to be re-ordered via www.yaledealer.eu

Revision updates during subscription period

The INSITE registration is for a period of twelve months and includes any revision updates
