Grammar

Simple present of content verbs

Edna works at a very good company.

Her husband drives there every day.
She leaves at about 6:00. Then she goes to the gym.
Does her husband work at the same company?
No, he doesn’t.
Does he drive to work?
Yes, he does.
How often does she go to the gym?
She goes twice a week.
What does her husband do?

What do you observe in the form of the verbs?

In English for she, he and it, we add an –s or –es to the verbs in simple present.
What auxiliary do you see in the interrogative, negative, and in the short answers?

Auxiliary does only has a grammatical function. It shows that the sentence is in simple present
third person singular.

In What does her husband do?, auxiliary does only has a grammatical function to make the
sentence interrogative. The second do is the principal verb of the sentence (hacer)
