B. It provides answers to practical educational challenges using scientific methods.
C. Findings from educational research; especially applied research, are instrumental in
policy reformulation.
D. Educational research helps only students apply their knowledge to practical situations

12. Describe the qualities of a good researcher.

The good researchers must have these qualities: Accuracy, Open Mindedness,
Motivation, Patience, Prudence, Expertise, Determination, Amiable Personality and can
work under pressure.

13. What is research gap?Why it is important to include the introduction/context part of the study?

Research gap is the problem that researchers would want to see addressed in research.
It contains the problem or questions that has not been answered in an area of
specialization. Research gap is important because it establishes the “needs” ,
“importance” “urgency” and “necessity” of proposed research project. Research Gap is
not the same with research aims.

14. What are the different type of research and give its meaning?

There are 2 types of research in terms of the nature and purpose of the study. (1) Basic
research and (2)Applied research. Basic Research investigates the basic reason and
principle behind the occurrence of a particular phenomenon or event. Basic research is
divided into 3 types which are Quantitative, Qualitative and Mixed Research. On the
other hand, applied research is designed to answer specific questions aimed at solving
practical problems. New knowledge acquired from applied research has specific
commercial objectives in the form of products, procedures or services. There are 3
types of applied research. These are  evaluation research, research and development,
and action research.

15. Differentiate action research from basic research. Give sample of research questions for
action and research questions for basic research given selecting one of the research titles
below.
