a. According to Ownership
Government – Created by law. Facilities are under national gov.
Private – owned. Establish with operated funds. May be single proprietorship,
corp, partnership and etc.,
b. According to scope of services
General – Service to all kinds of illness. Medical/Surgical and Maternal care.
Support board certified medical specialist
i. Clinical Services

Specialty – hospital specializing in a condition or a type of patient.

i. Level 1-minimum the services stipulated under Rule V.B.1

Classification of other Health Facilities
i. Category A: Primary Care Facility – First contact health care facility that
offers basic services.
1. With In-patient beds- short stay 1-3 days.
a. Infirmary-
b. Birthing room – homelike facility that provides maternity
services.
2. Without beds – medicines, medical or dental examination or
treatment is dispensed.
a. Medical out-patient clinic
b. Medical facility for ofw.
c. Dental clinic
Category B: Custodial Care Facility – long term care.
i. Custodial Psychiatric Care Facility
ii. Substance/Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center
iii. Nursing Home
Category C: Diagnostic/Therapeutic Facility – examines human body or
specimens for diagnosis or treatment for disease. Pre-ana,ana, post-ana

Category D: Specialized out-Patient Facility – facility with highly competent and
trained staff that performs specialized procedures.
