Methodology: Direct Method

(a) Prior Knowledge: (Recap, Brainstorming, Mind Mapping, etc)

The teacher will ask the students few questions

Q1: What is the summary of the poem (own words)?

Teacher will receive different responses. Then the teacher will tell the class, the summary of the
poem. This poem will enhance their vocabulary and reading skill.

(b) Explanation:

The teacher will read the first stanza and then tell the meaning of the difficult words and translation
of each line.

Difficult words like: fish fiddle de-de, tinkled binkledy-winkled, porpoise, forlorn
Then the student will read the next stanza and teacher will explain the meanings of different words
and translation of each line.

(c) Activity:1) Students will read stanzas turn by turn (from page no 80, and page no 81) and
Teacher will explain these stanza’s lines and difficult meanings in simple words.

(d) Wrap-up: Quick rapid fire synonym game will be played with the students. Teacher will write
some words and ask the students to find out its meaning from the poem.

Differentiation: The teacher will give extra attention to struggling learners by assigning them to
speak difficult words with correct pronunciation and recall their meaning to understand the stanzas
easily.
