    P2P recepy

    This guide details a simple synthesis of methamphetamine via P2P precursor, it is directed towards a
    novice chemist with access to a lab setting and adequate equipment. This is only one of many thousand
    routes of synthesis, I'm sure it's been detailed many times elsewhere, for good reason. This is a good
    place to start, studying a simple synthesis like this one to memorization is a great way to prepare for
    more complicated procedures. **Disclaimer: this is an educational resource, directed towards those with
    a fundamental understanding of the underlying chemistry, any attempts to recreate without proper
    knowledge will surely result in failure and injury.

    Materials

    300g P2P (best synthesized rather than purchased)

    2L 95% Methanol (Saturated with Methylamine gas)

    1L DCM (Dichloromethane)

    100g Magnesium Sulfate (MgSO4)

    35g Sodium Borohydride

    Procedure

    Dry Magnesium Sulfate on hot plate set to low, while bubbling Methylamine gas through Methanol.
    Once adequately heated (~30mins), add the Magnesium Sulfate to the Methanol solution with a stir bar,
    leave stirring for 5 minutes. The anhydrous Methanol/Methylamine solution should now be filtered off
    from the settled Magnesium Sulfate precipitate.

    Now, with strong magnetic stirring, the 300g P2P is added to the anhydrous solution and left to mix for
    ~1hr. you should notice a cloudy color change during this time, during Imine formation. Pipette out lower
    clear layer and discard.
    With dry ice cooling, or in an ice bath, with magnetic mixing; add 10mg of Sodium Borohydride, being
    sure to maintain adequate cooling. THIS IS IMPORTANT. Do not let the temperature rise, the flask should
    never be warm to the touch. Repeat this once the solution has cooled, adding 10mg and cooling until the
    35mg has been exhausted. This is the easiest step to fail on so take your time!! Leave stirring for ~1hr.

    Now add 1L DCM to 7L distilled water keeping on magnetic mixing. Once thoroughly mixed, pour in the
    P2P solution, continue mixing for ~5mins before stopping. The DCM should settle to the bottom of the
    flask, leaving a layer of water on top. Carefully decant the water off the solution, not being too stingy
    about losses. Leaving just the DCM oil.

    The DCM solution is now bubbled with HCl gas, acidifying the solution. Continue this process until a pH
    of <6.0 is reached. Evaporate the solution on a hotplate until dry. You should be left with beautiful, dirty,
    Methamphetamine powder!!

    Crystalize with dry ethanol + acetone and freeze overnight, repeating the process until the desired clarity
    and purity is reached. Have a little taste test, and enjoy the fruits of your hard labor.

    There is nothing better than seeing clean, beautiful shards when opening the freezer. You are now free
    to enjoy, and feel like a god-like superior for making your own drug of abuse, careful not to enjoy too
    much though; or you may realize that you'd prefer the ease of buying it online, leaving the work to
    someone else. ;D
