NOTICE IS HEREBY GMN in accordance with section l0 (3) of the Standards Act, that the Botswana Bureau
of Standards intends to recommend to the Minister of Investment, Tmde and Industry that the standard specifications
set out in the schedule be declared compulsory.
Any person who objects to the said standard specifications shall lodge his or her objections, in writing, to the
Managing Director, Botswana Bueau of standards, Private Bag BO 48, Gaborone, in not less than one month from

SCHEDULE
This Botswana standard specifies rcquirements for rice grains (oryza sativa L.) and covers de-husked rice,
de-hulled rice and parboiled rice.
2. BOS IEC 6{XD5.4:2021 Lead.acid startar batteries - Part 4: Dimensions ofbatterles for heavy Yehicles
This part of IEC 60095 is applicable to lead-acid batteries used for starting, lighting aid ignition of heavy
trucki, commercial vehicles, busses and agricultural trucks. The object of this document is to specify global
requirements ofthe main dimensions of stafler batteries.
117
3. BOS IEC 6m95.6:2019 L€ad-scid starter bstteries - Part 6: Batteries for micro-cycle applicltions
This part of IEC 60095 is applicable to lead-acid batteries with a nominal voltage of 12 V, used primarity as
power source for the stafting of intemal combustion engines (ICE),lighting and also for auxiliary equipment of
ICE vehicles. These batteries are commonly called "starter batteries".
The batteries within the scope of this document arc us€d for micro-cycle applications in vehicles which can
also be called stalt-stop (or stoPstart, idling-stop system, micro-hybrid or idle-stopand-go) applications. In
ca$ with this special capability, the intemal combustion engine is switched off during a complete vehicle stop,
during idling with low speed or during idling wherc there is no need to support the vehicle movement by the
intemal combustion engine. During the phases in which the engine is switched off, most of the electric and
electronic components of the car are supplied by the battery without suppod of the altemator.
In addition, in most cases an additional regenerative braking (recupemtion or regenemtion of braking energy)
function is installed. The batteries under these applications are stressed in a completely different way compared
to classical starter batteries. Aside from these additional properties, these batteries ne€d to crank the ICE and
support the lighting ard also auxiliary functions in a standard operating mode with the support of the altemator
when the intemal combusiion engine is switched on. AII batteries within this scope fulfil basic functions, which
arc tested under the application of IEC 60095- I .
4. BOS IEC 60095-7:ml9 Lesd.acid starter batteries - Part 7t General requircments and methods of test
for motorcycle batteries
This part ol IEC 60095 is applicable to lead-acid bafteries used pdmarily as a power source for the starting of
intemal combustion engines, lighting and ignition (SLI) of motorcycles and other power sport vehicles with
nominal voltage of l2V or 6V. Power sports vehicles covered in this document are snowmobiles, personal
watercrafls, and all-terrain vehicles.
