Zita

Zita is a short story written by Arturo B. Rotor IN 193. The story is about to
a young girl who fell in love with her teacher. In this story the main characters are
Don Eliodoro, known as the municipal president, the parish priest, and also owned
almost all the coconut, the herb doctor, the village character, he also the father of
Zita. Mr. Reteche is an educated man who comes to a small village to be a teacher.
And zita is a young girl, daughter of Don Eliodor, who become a student of Mr.
Reteche and eventually fall in love with him.

Everyone prepared a room for Mr. Reteche in Don Eliodor’s House where
he will temporarily livi, but Mr. Reteche chose turong’s house even if the house
was near the sea, he doesn’t mind about the dangerous the sea is.

Everyone in the village talking about him. The way he walked, talk and even
his unruly hair. The same day, that night zita tell a story to her father Don Eliodoro
about her new teacher in her first day. Zita told to her father that her teacher called
her name three times like he was telling her that it was her real name. That even
her new teacher asked her it was just a pet name. In Zita’s story she shooked her
head indicate that it was truly her name, but her answer seems angered her teacher,
and he even thought the she was a stubborn student.

In the same night turong was ina barber shop and telling story about Mr.
Reteche, he said he saw him like he was preoccupied and saw the untouched food
that he prepared. He also asked him to eat but Mr. Reteche reply him that he
wasn’t hungry. So turong think that Mr. Reteche wants to go home.

Every month Mr. Reteche always receiving a blue envelope letter. Turong
observed Mr. Reteche and he told to the peole of the village wha he observed to
Mr. Reteche.

Zita never forget the look of Mr. Reteche when he receiving the letter.

Don Eliodoro asked Mr. Reteche to be Zita’s personal tutor and Mr. Reteche
agree with that. Don Eliodoro wants his daughter to be fine lady, so Mr. Reteche
teach her how to dress, act, and dance like fine lady. Mr. Reteche told to zita to
dress accordingly in Spanish dance.

Zita saw how serious Mr. Reteche so she thought that she needs to learn
quickly. When they lean closer to each other zita’s heartbeat become faster than
usual heartbeat. But she saw that Mr. Reteche doesn’t show any affection or
emotion. Their dance was interrupt by turong who hand a blue envelope to Mr.
Reteche. Zita was shocked when Mr. Reteche tore the unopened envelope. Zita
was curious and asked Mr.Reteche why he tear them apart and Mr.Reteche replied
to her and said someday you will understand.
One day turong brought a stranger , old friend of M. Reteche from where he
came. Everybody was in the seashore while zita is holding the letter that tuyrongs
gave to Mr. Reteche.

She tore the paper but later on realized to put the pieces and great
understanding had come to her.

Lesson Learned
In this story I learned about that we tend to be curios sometimes, and fall
inlove but we need to respect others privacy.
