Quantifiers

1. A Lot of/ Lots of


“a lot of” and “lots of” have the same meaning: they both mean a large amount or number of
people or things.
They are both used before countable nouns and uncountable nouns:
a. with countable nouns:
A lot of people went to the game.
Lots of people went to the game.

b. with uncountable nouns:


A lot of snow falls in winter.
Lots of snow falls in winter.

2. A Lot
“a lot” means very often or very much . It is used as an adverb. It often comes at the end of a
sentence and never before a noun.
Examples:
a. I like basketball a lot.
b. She's a lot happier now than she was.
c. I don't go there a lot anymore.

3. ‘a little’ is placed in front of uncountable nouns; ‘a little money’ means ‘some money’.

5. ‘little’ means ‘not much’. It has a negative meaning.


‘little money’ means ‘not much money’.

6. ‘few’ means ‘not many’. It has a negative meaning.


‘few friends’ means ‘not many friends’.

Giving Instruction

To give instruction, we can use imperative sentence.

In imperative, the verb is put in front of the sentence.

We can add sequence to show the order of the instruction.
