System Software v1.

2 Load Instructions:
This document details the step used to install Fiery System Software version 1.2 on a Bustled controller for the DocuColor
240/250. These instructions apply to both the RoHS (AXA) and Non-RoHS (WUP) controllers. The software update brings
EFI System 8e features to the DC240/250 Bustled Network Controller. No DFE hardware upgrades are required to support
the new version of software.
Notes:
• Please update the IOT software to the latest version prior to upgrading the bustled controller.
• After installing the system software the Fiery controller must be rebooted and it can
take approximately four minutes for the controller to print a Startup Page and the
Network Scan and Web Application icon to become enabled.
• The times listed in the following sequences are meant to be for reference only. The
times may vary slightly from server to server.

Preparation Steps:
Required Materials:
• PWS and Crossover Cable
• System Software CDs (3) - DC 240/250 Bustled Fiery v1.2 Service Enablement Kit
(701S48272)
- DocuColor 240/250 Bustled Fiery v1.2 System Software EFIGSBPD, CD 1 of 3
(701P48264).
- DocuColor 240/250 Bustled Fiery v1.2 System Software EFIGSBPD, CD 2 of 3
(701P48265).
- DocuColor 240/250 Bustled Fiery v1.2 System Software EFIGSBPD, CD 3 of 3
(701P48266).
• Print a Fiery configuration page if a current report is not available
• Print the Fiery font list

PWS Preparation:
• Turn off Windows Firewall (See Appendix A for instructions).
• Disable BUS any Virus Protection software.
• Disable the wireless contection
• Configure the NIC (Network Interface Card) for auto (See Appendix B for instructions).
• Configure Local Area Connection with a static IP, 10.10.10.10 is recommended.
• Turn off FTP Publishing (See Appendix C for instructions and error messages).

Controller Preparation:
• Power off the Fiery Bustled Controller by pressing the soft power button for
approximately 10 seconds (refer to Figure 1 for the location of the Soft power button).
• Disconnect the CDI and crossover cable from the DC240/250.
• Place the service switches in the “On” position (refer to Figure 1 for the location of the
Service Switches).
• Connect the crossover cable to the network port on the PWS with the network port on
the Fiery controller (refer to Figure 1 for the location of the Network Connector).

Installation Procedure:

1. Insert the CD labeled DocuColor 240/250 Bustled Fiery v1.2 System Software EFIGSBPD,
CD 1 of 3 into the DVD/CD-ROM drive of the PWS. The Fiery System Software Installer
program will auto start and the screen shown below will appear. If it does not auto start,
double click the My Computer icon on your desktop followed by double clicking the CD ROM
drive. The following screen will appear. Select Direct Installation.
2. At the Welcome screen, click Next.

3. The Software License Agreement screen will appear (shown below) read the agreement and check the “I Agree” box.

4. Click Next.
5. Ethernet will be selected by default, click Next. The screen shown below will appear.

6. Ignore the directions on the following screen, confirm the controller is powered off, the CDI and crossover cables are
disconnected and the service switches are in the “On” position (i.e. physically in the up position).

7. Turn on the controller using the soft power button by pressing and releasing it. The “FF” will appear momentarily on
the LED display (refer to Figure 1 for the location of the LED display) followed by other values, wait for the “FF” to
appear the second time. Click Next.
8. Commence Installation screen will appear (shown below) Confirm by clicking Next.

9. The screen below will appear. Select the Ethernet adapter for the PWS (do not select the adapter labeled “Nortel”) and
click OK.

10. Observe the screens as the various files are transferred to the EFI controller. Initially, the “Waiting for Fiery to be
ready…” screen will appear followed by “creating partitions” this will take approximately 3 to 4 minutes. Then the LED
display will change to “00”. File 1 of 3 will install requiring approximately 4 minutes to complete.

11. File 1 of 3 will take approximately 4 minutes to install.

12. Once file 1 has installed the CD will auto eject from the PWS and you will be prompted to insert DISK 2.
13. Removed DISC 1 and insert the disk labeled, DocuColor 240/250 Bustled Fiery v1.2 System Software EFIGSBPD,
CD 2 of 3. Click “OK”

14. File 2 of 3 will take approximately 6 minutes to complete the install. Once file 3 has installed the
CD will auto eject from the PWS and you will be prompted to insert DISK 3.

15. Removed DISC 2 and insert disk labeled, DocuColor 240/250 Bustled Fiery v1.2 System Software
EFIGSBPD, CD 3 of 3. Click “OK”.
16. File 3 of 3 will install requiring approximately 4 minutes to complete. Once file 4 has installed the following
screen will appear indicating that the installation was successful. Ignore the directions on this screen and
proceed to step 17.

17. Power off the Fiery Bustled Controller by pressing and holding the soft power button for 10 seconds until the green
LED turns off.
18. Return the service switches to the down position for normal operation.
19. Click Next and the following screen will appear. Click Finish.

20. Disconnect the Ethernet crossover cable from the PWS and the EFI controller.

21. Reconnect the CDI cable.

22. Reconnect the Ethernet crossover cable between the DC240/250 and the EFI controller.

23. Reconnect the customer’s Network cable to the network connector on the EFI controller.

24. It will take approximately 7 minutes for the DC240/250 to print a startup page.

25. This completes the System Software v1.2 installation procedure.


Appendix A

Turning off Windows Firewall

1. Click Start Æ Settings Æ Control Panel

2. If you are using Classic View double click the Windows Firewall icon from the control panel. If you are using Category
View proceed to step 4.

3. Select the Off radio button to turn off Windows Firewall.


4. In Category View select Security Center.

5. Select Windows Firewall. Select the Off radio button to turn Windows Firewall off (refer to step 3).
Appendix B

Configure the NIC (Network Interface Card) for 100 Mb Half duplex

1. Click Start Æ Settings Æ Control Panel

2. If you are using Classic View Select double click the Network Connections icon from the control panel. If you are using
Category View proceed to step 6.

3. Right Click on the Local Area Connection Icon and select Properties.

4. Hit the Configure... button (Make certain the Broadcom NetXtreme Network card is selected).
5. Select the Advance tab, under Properties select Speed & Duplex, for the Value select Auto. Hit OK.

6. In category view, select Network and Internet Connections.


7. From the next window select Network Connections and return to Step 3.

Appendix C

In order the installation of System Software version 1.2 to install successfully it requires the use of FTP services. If you
have FTP publisher running on your PWS the following error screens will appear during installation of the software.
How to Turn FTP Publishing Off

1. Right click on the My Computer Icon on your desktop and select Manage from the drop down menu.

2. Expend the Services and Applications item and select Services.

3. Scroll down until your find FTP Publishing (the services are listed in alphabetical order).

4. Click “Stop” the service.
