Detailed Lesson Plan for Grade 7 English

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:


1. identify the Oral language and speaking;
2. identify the different between Oral language and speaking; and
3. familiarize about the components of oral language.

II. Competency

Topic: Using Appropriate Oral Language, Stance and Behavior when Giving
Information, Instruction, Making Explanation and Narrating Events in Factual and Personal
Recounts
References: DepEd English Book Quarter 3- Module 2
Instructional Materials: Power point presentation, Television

III. Procedure

A. Routine

1. Prayer

For us to have a fruitful discussion, let us all


stand and ask for the Lord's guidance through a
prayer. May I request a student to lead?
(Student lead the prayer)
2. Classroom Management

Before you take a seat please put some piece


of paper or any garbage under your chair.

May I ask everyone who is absent for today?

B. Review/Motivation

What is the different of the two types of


recounts?
Factual recounts – These are used
to record details and facts of a
particular event with the speaker
or writer has not necessarily been
involved.
Personal recounts – These describe events
that the speaker/writer.

C. Lesson Development

After learning the types of recount and the ways


of giving instruction and information, let us now
talk about things to consider in oral language as
you narrate events.

But first, lets us all know what oral language is.

use spoken words to express knowledge, ideas,
and feelings.

Speaking is the action of conveying


information or expressing one's thoughts and
feelings in spoken language.

What are the different between speaking and


oral language?

Oral language is the system which we use to


spoke using knowledge, ideas and feeling while
speaking is the action of conveying information
through spoken language.

Let us now proceed to the components of Oral


language.

And these are the following:

Please read Pause – a non-fluency feature used to delimit


units of grammatical construction
Pitch - Highness and lowness of the tone of
voice that indicates feeling
Stress - the prominence given to a syllable or
word which makes the word or syllable stand
out
Volume – loudness and softness of voice to
show emotions
Intonation - movement of the voice up and
down
Speech Rate – speed at which you speak
Stance – How you stand in front of the room
speaks before you open your mouth. Your
stance can tell the audience that you're happy
scared, confident, or uncomfortable.
Behavior – The way the speaker acts and
behaves before his/her audience
Body Language - The process of
communicating nonverbally through
conscious or unconscious gestures and
movements.

having a task which you will be speaking in front
