1 GENERAL

1.1 Overview of Project

ENI has been awarded the Zubair project for the development of an oil field (ZUBAIR FIELD) in joint
venture with, Korea Gas and Missan Oil COMPANY (as state partner), with Eni as operator.
The Zubair Field is located in the southern area of Iraq, 20 km from Basra city (see Figure below).

The structure of the Zubair Field is a relatively gentle anticline-oriented NNW - SSE, approximately 60 km
long and 10-15 km wide.
The Zubair project is a “brown field project”, with existing facilities and infrastructure. The field is
currently in production. The Zubair Field Development Plan foresees the introduction of new facilities
required for the ramp-up of the field and partial integration with the existing facilities.
Zubair field is currently in production through 5 de-gassing stations (DGS) (one of them being Zubair
Mishrif) plus Safwan flow station. In order to ramp up the production and to achieve the overall
production capacity of 700 kBOPD additional 4 process oil trains (50 kBOPD each) and related
facilities along with supporting utilities and Water Injection Plant are planned to be constructed, for
which scope this basis of design document is prepared.

11. Calibrated Survey devices must be available with all certificates required.
12. All heavy equipment must be far away as much as the depth multiple by 2. .
13. All underground utilities must be discovered by a certified device / operator if any
manual excavation shape X or around with enough depth to find UG utilities.

5.2 Work Execution

1. Clean the site & level it with minor cutting/filling. Establish grid pillars at least 1 meter away
from the actual excavation boundary.
2. Demarcation of the plot & marking the actual boundaries. Setting up of grid lines in both the
directions 8 locating centre line of column footings, retaining wall and compound wall.
3. Establish temporary benchmark for level control with reference to the benchmark provided by
the client/customer.
4. Protect the benchmark with proper barricading to avoid any disturbance.
5. Before starting excavation all the pre levels to be recorded.
6. Record all the levels of the existing structure.
7. Check the required bottom level of blinding and footing.
8. Check the top level of the footing & raft after casting.
9. Transfer the center line for Columns on the raft for column kickers.
10. Check the line of column after de-shuttering
11. Transfer BMs on column to facilitate level control of floor slab.
12. The area to be excavated shall be properly marked and clear before starting the works.
13. The depth of excavation shall be periodically checked by a surveyor to avoid over-
excavation. The bank of the excavated area shall be sloped 30 degrees and shall be maintained to
