IV. Procedure
A. Review/Presentation of the New Lesson
As we recall our lesson we learned about “Five S”.
What is the second step of Five S? What is the meaning of it?
B. Motivation
The first step of “Five S” is called Sorting. What is now the second step?
C. Presenting Examples/Instances of the New Lesson
Principle of “Five S”
Principle of “Five s” stands for: Sorting, Straightening, Systematic Cleaning, Standardizing, and
Sustaining the management of waste, things at home and in the workplace. These principles provide
someone an idea on how to properly organize things, maximize space and maintain it as a habit of
practice. Below is a simple illustration of this principle.

D. Discussing New Concept and Practicing New Skills

“Seiton” is a Japanese word meaning,” Set in Order” or simplifying in a designating location. This principle
advocates that there should be a place for everything. All work items should be set in clearly labelled established
areas and arranged in a manner that promotes efficient works flow.
Proper Ways of Straightening Waste Materials
1. If necessary, reassign spaces, racks, cabinets, etc.
2. Decide the right places for everything.
3. Put all materials at a place allocated to them with the proper label.
4. Use alerts or indicators for out-of-stock situations.
5. Use floor paint marking to define work area, path, entrance/exit, cart, trolley equipment, etc.
6. Use display cautions, messages, instructions at the proper place.
E. Developing Mastery (Leads to Formative Assessment)

F. Generalization and Abstraction

Seiton or Straightening is based on finding efficient and effective storage.

It also means organizing the essential materials where everything has its place.
Labelling is for clear identification of storage areas to keep necessary items.

G. Evaluation
Directions: Write T if the statement is true and if it is false, incircle the word that makes the statement
incorrect, write your answer on the space provided.
_____ 1. Everything must be in order.
_____ 2. You will easily find the needed items if things are not in its place.
_____ 3. Labelling is not necessary in storing items.
_____ 4. Mixing waste products in one container is recommended in proper waste disposal.
_____ 5. Straightening and labelling will save time and energy when looking for something.
