Extract using WinRar 5.0 or higher.
Place in folder, extract last part, all will extract.
Do not use 7Zip or you will get CRC error.

I'm still amazed and disappointed that the high level European zone maps
(970_7466) are still not what they were before v965 but I did discover that
Central_Europe is a quite convenient map and can be combined with other
I don,t believe that it is a commercial trick. High level maps to contain less
countries than the low-level maps. To wich map, you refer.

Until v960 the country coverage content for high vs low level maps were
identical. And matched with the map images on this topic.
Making the high level maps much smaller due to less countries serves very
little purpose and there was no immediate need for it. Combining maps can
now be a necessity but is hardly an option for the buying customer and is
also not the preferred solution for the Navitotal-like clients.
Look here for my 965 findings.

solution for Navitotal-like clients. I think the Navitotal-like client
is lucky that it is still possible to get free maps for his old device.
So for those who want more flexibility and make their own choice of maps

I can not understand why others bother with limited storage space models?

You can get a device from Ebay with memory card slot for about 20 GBP.

That's history. People just don't like to chuck their devices. They weren't that
cheap too.
But the so called 1gb maps are not the issue between the other (<2gb) low vs
high level maps. It's a matter of not being any necessity to strip countries

@navitdavid
For about 100 pounds you have a Start 40 Europe with Live Time maps.
You don,t have to bother every 3 months if there is a free map available
512MB ram
Only if you want to use the Satnav outside Europe you have to Buy (not free) Joined: Tue Jan 26, 2010 11:30 am

It's a matter of not being any necessity to strip countries from 970.7466 maps
(and not from other maps).
That is the same for 1GB maps some are stripped to
It seems to me that you are only focusing on <2GB maps but maybe I am
mistaken
No, you are right. But while I understand 1 GB devices getting cramped, it is
rediculous if they are making maps far smaller than necessary.

This question might be stupid, but how is it possible that the Europian 970
version is available and on the tomtom site oly the 965 version. Is there
maybe an explanation for it?

Other then that: It's the normal schedule of releasing maps. Feb, May, Aug
and Nov. Nothing new, nothing surprising.
