PERSONAL SWOT: Below is an activity that aims to recognize your own “Strengths”, Weaknesses”,

B. FIRM-UP

When you hear the PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, what comes to your mind?

By just reflecting on this question, you are already using the concept of PERSONAL
by giving your own PERSONAL opinion on the matter. When do we say that something is
personal? If this refers to a possession of a particular and exclusive only in a person,
individual, or a body.
You might also encounter terms such as PERSONALITY.

PERSONALITY is a SENSE OF SELF in an organized

and consistent pattern of perception of the “I” or
“Me” that lies on the heart of an individual’s
experience. This means that self plays a vital role in
making our personality. ~ Carl Rogers

WHAT IS PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT?

Process where one can reflect upon themselves, understand who they are, accept they
discover about themselves, and learn (or unlearn) new sets of values, attitudes, behavior,
and thinking skills to reach their fullest potential as a human. (Santos, 2016)

Personality cannot be defined through a single definition. This term originated from the
greek word PERSONAE which pertain to mask worn in ancient greek play.

WHAT IS SELF?
This refers to a person’s experience as single, unitary, autonomous being that is separate
from others, experienced with continuity through time and place. The experience of the self includes
consciousness of one’s physicality as well as one’s inner character and emotional life.
Below are Carl Rogers’ Dimensions of the SELF:

Physical you cannot execute your behavior if you don’t

have the power to your body, sometime behavior are seen
as a product of our senses and our attitude in a certain
thing. In the Diagnostic Statistical Manual for Mental

Psychological contains the concepts regarding stress, cognition,

behavior, attitude, emotion, personality.

Personality is a product of influence of your mind.

Spiritual allows us to view ourselves as spiritual beings that holds
relevance to a perceived existence of GOD, of a greater good, or a Superior
Being relating to the humble individual.

Everyone can be Great but not Everyone can be Good

"The individual's belief about himself or herself,

including the person's attributes and who and what
the self is" Baumeister (1999)
How about you? What is your Self - Concept about yourself?

Aspects of Self-Concept
