CMC INVESTMENTS

1. OPEN GT2 Attachment 1 Download GT2 Attachment 1 from Canvas.

2. Enter formulas in column F to convert the text in column A to title case.


3. Copy the values from column F to column A and delete column F.
4. SAVE the workbook in your Formative Assessments folder as CMC Investments
Solution  and then CLOSE the file.

5. LEAVE Excel open for the next project.

SFA Grades
In this exercise, you enter COUNTIF and AVERAGEIF formulas to analyze and summarize
grades for a course at the School of Fine Arts.

1. OPEN GT2 Attachment 2 Download GT2 Attachment 2 from the data files


for this lesson.
2. In cell J2 enter a formula that counts the total number of students.

3. In the grades table on the right side of the worksheet, create formulas using
COUNTIF that will count how many students got an A for the Final, Quarter,
and Semester. In the Range field, use an absolute reference.
4. Create formulas for each of the other grades in the grades table.
5. SAVE the workbook as SFA Grades Solution  and then CLOSE the file.

Credit Card Inventory


In this project, the office manager has asked you to create an inventory of company credit
cards and save the file with a password.

1. Open a Blank workbook and type Contoso Credit Card Inventory in cell A1.


2. Type and format the information in the figure below. The title in cell A1 is
merged and centered, with Cell Style Heading 1 applied. The labels in row 3
are centered, with Cell Style Heading 3 applied.

3. SAVE the file as Credit Cards Solution  for future reference.

4. Click the FILE tab and Info is automatically selected; click Protect


Workbook and choose Encrypt with Password.
5. In the Encrypt Document dialog box, type 11P1!s5 and reenter the same
password in the Confirm Password dialog box.

6. SAVE and CLOSE the workbook.


Teacher Evaluations
In this exercise, you will plot the evaluations from three teachers to discuss your next
semester schedule with your study group.

1. CREATE the workbook shown in the figure.

2. Create a Radar chart for the three teachers.


3. Move the chart to a sheet called Evaluations.
4. Change the Chart Title to read Teacher Evaluations.
5. Using the CHART STYLES button, change the chart to Style 7.
6. Move the legend to the bottom right of the chart.
7. Add a text box on the bottom left: Fall Semester Evals.
8. Change the text box font color to gray to match the other labels and make the
font italic.

9. Decide which teacher you want and change the Legend so the teacher has an
asterisk (*) after the number (on T1, T2, or T3).
10. SAVE the workbook to your Formative Assessments folder as Teachers
Solution.

11. CLOSE the file.


Goals
Create a SmartArt graphic that lists goals for a non-profit organization.

1. On the INSERT tab, in the Illustrations group, click the Insert a SmartArt


Graphic button.
2. In the Choose a SmartArt Graphic dialog box, in the List category,
select Vertical Arrow List and click OK.
3. In the Text pane, click in the top-most Text bullet position.
4. Type Short-term Goals.
5. Click in the next bullet position, and type Acquire four new donors.

6. In the next bullet position, type Publicize spring fundraiser.


7. In the next major bullet position, type Long-term Goals.

8. Click in the next bullet position, and type Raise $1 million.


9. In the last bullet position, type Build new warehouse.

10. Close the text box on the left.


11. On the SMARTART TOOLS DESIGN tab, in the SmartArt Styles group, click
the Intense Effect style in the mini gallery.
12. SAVE the workbook as Goals Solution  and CLOSE the file.
