    CIS4603 Project Management

    Resource Management – Case Study 2

    Instructions:
    Work in groups of 2 to 3 students in each group. Your task is to read the case, develop a resource break
    down structure, and create a time based cost baseline for the project.

    Case:

    Salem is the project manager for a Hardware upgrade project for a university. The project duration is 12
    months. The project has two main deliverables, the hardware and the hardware installation and
    configuration.

    The following resources are required to complete the project:

    - 4 servers each server is 12,000, the servers need to be bought by the fourth month in the project.
    - 60 desktop computers, each is for 4,000. 30 computers need to be bought in the 3rd month and 30
    computers in the 6th month.
    - 20 laptops each for 4,000. These need to be available in the 10th month.
    - 5 printers , each for 1,000, these need to be available in the 9th month.
    - Two full time technicians each at 10,000/month for 12 months
    - 50% of a Security specialist at 30,000/month for 4 months, for the last 4 months.
    - 30% of an AVA specialist at 20,000/month for 3 months, for the last 3 months.

    Contingency reserve is 10%.
