RATIONALE

The development of youth in the communities is a priority of the current


administration to arrest the growing number of unemployment, substance abuse and the
raising cases of criminality across the country.

It is believed that true development occurs when people mobilize their own
resources; when they interact with their environment such that they promote the full
realization of their human potentials. Helping people help themselves means making
available to as many low-income communities as possible various forms of assistance to
enable them realize socio-economic benefits toward an improved quality of life.

To realize this, the government instituted programs to capacitate Youth


Organizations and other similar groups by providing them trainings. Through this strategy,
YOs are able to gain knowledge, develop attitudes and acquire skill to improve their capacity
for participation and self-direction.

The government recognizes the value of training in bringing about positive changes
in people’s lives. Hence, the integration of trainings on leadership, organizational
development, management and other needed skills in all of its project schemes. It is
considered as indispensable educational tool in upgrading and developing them.

Training at the community level enables the people to improve their own lives
through continuous education in community decision-making, problem solving and basic
management skills. These opportunities for learning are provided not just through training-
seminars but also through the experiences gained in the planning, implementation and
evaluation of their socio-economic projects.

Basically, the training programs are geared to the development of the beneficiaries’.
values orientation and Moral/Spiritual Recovery. This values build-up aims to develop
increased capacities for self-reliance among target participants.

OBJECTIVES:

General:
The training generally aims to strengthen and capacitate the indigenous youths on
values Orientation and Moral/Spiritual Upliftment/Recovery

Specifically, by the end of the training, the participants are expected to be able to:
1. Acknowledge the importance of positive values in a stressful working
environment and fast-paced way of living;
2. Value the importance of spirituality and morality as a corner stone of a good
work ethics and;
3. Understand that holistic development is dependent on physical and spiritual
growth.

PARTICIPANTS

Expected participants are 48 individual youth leaders from the 16 barangay. The SK
Chairman and 2 SK Members or designated representatives.

COURSE CONTENT

 Values Orientation
 Moral/Spiritual Recovery
METHODOLOGY

The training will make use of varied methodology and visual aids to facilitate livelier
discussion and encourage participation of target beneficiaries in all undertakings.
Particularly it will make use the following:
 Lecture-Discussion
 Team building exercises
 Role playing

TRAINING OUTPUT

After the one (1) day(s) training, targeted participants are expected to have
understood and familiarized themselves with the following:

 Positive Life Values


 Moral/Spiritual Development Values

TRAINING EVALUATION

The course will be evaluated by the participants using the Overall Training Evaluation
Form; they will also evaluate the performance of resource speakers using the Resource
Person Evaluation Form.
