Pattern Notes
To ensure a proper fit, it is very important that you meet gauge. The top can be made in 5
sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL). For each size I have included instructions for making the top in a
shorter length and a longer length with instructions for each in parenthesis, for example:
(shorter length, longer length). The longer version will add 2” to the total length of the top
(see photos at the bottom of page 9). The length of the top can also be adjusted by adding
or omitting rounds from the bottom ribbing. The front and back panels are identical and are
made first in rows. Make 2 panels, one for the front and one for the back. Throughout the
pattern, the chain 1 at the beginning of each row or round DOES NOT count as a stitch. The
pattern for the bottom ribbing is written for all sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL).

Front and Back Panels - Use an I/5.5 mm hook or hook used to meet gauge
(make 2 panels)
If you begin each panel with a foundation chain, weave all loose ends into the opposite side
when making the second panel. I have included instructions for making the top in a shorter
length and a longer length with instructions for each in parenthesis, for example: (shorter
length, longer length). The longer version will add 2” to the length.

Size Extra Small Front and Back Panels (each panel measures approximately
14” wide x (10.5”, 12.5”) long at center)

Joining the Front and Back Panels Together

Position one panel on top of the other panel so the wrong
sides are facing out.
Starting at the top, and using your preferred method, join the
front panel to the back panel. I prefer to thread a tapestry
needle with matching yarn and the use the whip stitch. You
can also slip stitch the pieces together if you prefer. Stop
when you reach the outer edge of the bottom. Repeat
instructions for the left side of the top. Weave in loose ends.
See strap instructions below.

Making the Straps (use a J/6 mm crochet hook)

With the right side facing, attach yarn with a slip stitch at the
highest point on the right side of the piece. Loosely chain 32. Attach yarn with a slip stitch at
the highest point on the back panel. Be very careful not to twist the chain. Fasten off and
weave in loose ends. Repeat strap instructions for the left side of the top. See photos below.
To alter the length of the straps, add or omit chains before joining to the back. See finishing
instructions on next page.

Repeat rounds 1 and 2 for the left side of the top.

Neckline and Inner Strap Trim (use a J/6

mm crochet hook)
Round 1 (see photo to right): attach yarn with a slip

along the top edge of the piece, working along the
other side of the strap, sc in each unworked chain
loop, sc in each end row along the back edge of the
piece and in each unworked chain loop along the
other strap, sc in each end row along the front
edge, slip stitch in the first stitch to join
