UNIT LEARNING PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 10

1ST QUARTER

Unit No.: 1
Unit Topic: Sequence
Date: July 25, 2022 – September 5, 2022
The learner demonstrates an understanding of key concepts of
Content Standard:
sequences, polynomials, and polynomial equations.
The learner is able to formulate and solve problems involving
Performance Standard: sequences, polynomials, and polynomial equations in different
disciplines through appropriate and accurate representations.
The learner:

 A1. illustrates an arithmetic sequence (M10AL-Ib-1)

 A2. determines arithmetic means, nth term of an arithmetic
sequence, and the sum of the terms of a given arithmetic
sequence. (M10AL-Ib-c-1)
 A3. illustrates a geometric sequence. (M10AL-Id-1)
 A4.differentiates a geometric sequence from an arithmetic
Learning Competencies: sequence. (M10AL-Id- 1)

 A5. determines geometric means, nth term of a

geometric sequence, and sum of the terms of a given
finite or infinite geometric sequence. (M10AL-Ie-2)
 A6. illustrates other types of sequences (e.g.,
harmonic, Fibonacci). (M10AL- If-1)
 M1. solves problems involving sequences. (M10AL-If-
2)
Students will understand that:
 Some sequences can be modeled with a function rule
that you can use to find any term of the sequence.
Enduring  In a geometric sequence, the ratio of any term to its
Understandings: preceding term is a constant value.
 When you can identify a pattern in a sequence, you can
use it to extend the sequence.
Students will keep considering the following questions:
 What is a sequence?
Essential Question/s:  How can patterns be represented?
 What are the advantages and disadvantages of a
recursive rule compared to an explicit rule?
T1.
Students will be able to independently use their learning in
Transfer Goal:
solving problems involving sequences by using patterns, rules,
observations, or methodologies.

Enduring Understanding: representations are useful in solving real-world problems.
 The domain and range of polynomial functions can be
extended to include the set of complex numbers.
Students will keep considering the following questions:
 How do polynomial functions model real-world problems
and their solutions?
Essential Question:  Why are complex numbers necessary?
 How are operations and properties of complex numbers
related to those of real numbers?
T2.
Students will be able to independently use their learning to
Transfer Goal: approximate the behavior of something in the real world or in their
daily-life situations with ease and full understanding using key
concepts of polynomials and polynomial equations.
