1. The document outlines the step-by-step method for constructing a slow sand filter.
2. Key steps include excavating to the proper depth and width, laying down sand and gravel layers, installing perforated pipes and inlet/outlet valves, pouring and finishing concrete walls and slabs, and adding final touches like walkways and railings.
3. Once construction is fully complete, the slow sand filter will be ready for operation.

Method of Statement for Construction of Slow Sand Filter
1. Check if the site is properly cleaned.
2. Refer to the final layout drawing, reference points shall be set to the actual demarcation and adjust final levels and other development works. 3. Excavation work will be carried out with respect to the reference width and depth. 4. Sand Filling will be carried out as shown in the picture when the required level (width, depth) is completed. The sand is sprayed with water and compacted with a compactor. 5. Lean Concrete (1: 3: 6) pouring work will be followed as the sand is compacted properly. 6. Set marking points on the lean concrete for Steel work of foundation, column and vertical wall. 7. Tying the footing bottom layer followed by the rebar of vertical wall. Then, footing top layer will be tie with the required cover blocks and chairs. 8. After the rebar work is done, leveling and cleaning work is carried out for concreting of foundation slab. 9. Selected concrete grade is poured to the required width and depth. Vibrators is used to obtain the required density. Curing will be done for 14 consecutive days after pouring concrete. 10. After that, continue to tie Walling Horizontal Bars with the cover blocks. Then, install formwork, water stopper and short pipe for inlet and outlet gate valve. 11. Inlet and outlet short pipes will be installed at the same time. 12. After installing the necessary supports for wall formwork and cleaning thoroughly, the concrete pouring process will begin. 13. Pour 2’-0” of wall height per once. Vibrator will be used to get the required density. Then repeat this procedure to reach the required wall height. After pouring concrete, curing will be done well for 14 days. 14. Removing the wall formwork after pouring the concrete and filling in the formwork for 7 days. 15. After cleaning the Slow Sand Filter, the installation of perforated pipes will proceed as shown with the necessary pipe support. 16. Then fill the gravel layers as shown in the drawing. Gravel does not contain impurities and must be smooth and hard. Then fill until it reaches to the specified height. 17. To prevent short circuit flow in the filter, provide 3 Groove Line to the Internal Wall within the sand layer. 18. Then fill the specified size washed sand to the design height. 19. Water inlet and outlet gate valves must also be installed. 20. One V-notch shall be installed in the tank outlet chamber of each tank to control the flow rate. 21. Small concrete slab shall be provided in the water inlet area. 22. Roof slab formwork shall be provided. Rebar shall also be installed with the required chair and cover block as per the design. Cleaning work will also be done. 23. Concreting work will be carried out when the formwork, rebar and cleaning work is completed properly. 24. Roof Slab shall be well cured. Then after systematically removing the roof slab formwork, cleaning the filter and also the surrounding area at the same time. 25. Installation of manhole cover and ventilators shall be carried out. 26. Exterior wall shall be painted properly. 27. The walkways on the filter must also be installed with handrails as shown in the drawing. 28. Once the facilities are installed completely, the filter could begin to operate.
