The booklet discusses important practices during the first 10 days of Zul Hijjah like avoiding haircuts, increasing prayers and Quran recitation, fasting on the Day of Arafah, giving charity, and making dua.

The Ka'bah was built by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Ismail (AS) on Allah's command as a place for people to worship Allah. It is the first house of worship for all mankind.

When Hajara (RA) ran out of provisions, she ran between the hills of Safa and Marwah seven times in desperation until Allah caused the Zam Zam spring to appear, saving her and her son Ismail (AS).

Story Time

The Ka'bah is the house of Allah. It was built by Prophet Ibrahim and
his son Ismail (peace be upon them) thousands of years ago. Allah
Ta’ala commanded Prophet Ibrahim (a.s) to build the Ka'bah so that
people will come here and worship Allah.
Ibrahim (a.s) and Ismail (a.s) used big stones to build the Ka'bah. The
Ka'bah was so big that Ibrahim (a.s) could not reach the higher part
of it to put the stones. He stood on a rock and Allah made this rock
rise off the ground so he could reach higher up. This rock still has
Ibrahim's (a.s) footprints on it and is called the Maqam Ibrahim.

After completing Tawaaf around the Ka’bah we perform two rakaah

salaah at Maqam Ibrahim.
‫ﷻ‬
Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was a great Prophet of Allah ‫ﷻ‬. He was
given the title of Khalil-lullah which means the Friend of Allah. He was
commanded to take his newly born son Ismail and wife Hajara (a.s.) to Makkah
which was in a barren valley with no trees, animals or water. The family made
the long journey together. Prophet Ibrahim (a.s) left them with some dates and
water and said farewell just as Allah had commanded him.
The food and water ran out and Hajara was worried, as baby Ismail began to
cry. She panicked and ran between the hills of Mount Safa and Marwah hoping
she might see some travellers and get water or food from them.
After running between the two hills seven times, she returned to baby Ismail.
She found that where Ismail was kicking his feet in the sand, a spring had
appeared in the ground. The water was sweet and both mother and baby drank
from it.
This spring is still there today and is known as Zam zam. When the Hujjaj
return to their families they bring a special gift of zam zam. When you drink
this water think back to baby Ismail and the great favour Allah Ta’ala had given
to him. This is the same water that Allah caused to come from the ground many
thousands of years ago. Subhanallah!
Let’s draw the hills Safa and Marwah with zam zam well in the middle:
The 9th of Zul-Hijjah is called Yaw-mul Arafah. Fasting on this
day will forgive the sins of two years. We should increase in zikr,
dua and istighfar. The best dua is on the Day of Arafah, and the
best Dua of the Ambiyaa (alaihimus salam) is,

Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar

La ilaaha illallahu wallahu Akbar,
Allahu Akbar wa lillahil-hamd.
