The majority of horror films begin with an unsettling atmosphere

III. WRITING A PARAGRAPH. Based on the stories shared by your

grandparents, which generation do you think has a happier life –
millennial or old times? Why?

Answer:
If I am the one who asked about this topic both stories
has its own happiness and experiences. Old times was not
that too engaged in the use of technology aside from the
millennial times was way more adapted in the modern
technology. My point is both stories has a different history
and lifestyle which is is both contrary at the same time.

If I were to choose who was way more happier life, I

would prefer the old times because based from my
grandparents or parents stories they often play at their
backyards together with their cousins, siblings and if a
chance with their parents. They used to play harang taga,
Sipa ball, taguan, balikbayan, marbles, pogs and teks,
langit lupa and a lot of more games. In their times the
river and canals was pure clean and there are fishes
swimming on it. They also make a tree house or play house
using logs, curtain or sacks and eating some fruits like
mangoes and guava.

On the other hand, millennial had its own experiences,

we also played their games but not that too engaged. Our
generation is way more coping up of online games, social
medias, watching YouTube and play music in spotify. Which of
these has a negative effect of using without limitations it
may affects our health like our sight, body’s inactive, poor
bone and muscle strength. Unlike the old times is contrary
to the lifestyle of nowadays generation.

QUARTER 2 MODULE 3

COMPARING AND CONTRASTING THE PRESENTATION OF THE SAME TOPIC

IN DIFFERENT VIEWING GENRES

In this module, the learner is expected to:

 compare and contrast the presentation of the same topuc in
different viewing genres;
 use adjectives properly to show similarities and differences
of the characters; and
 explain how the elements of a folktale contribute to its
theme.

In our previous modules, we already discussed the difference

between opinion and fact.

OPINION is a belief, judgment, or a way of thinking about

something. Whenever you share ideas – you are sharing opinion. In
this lesson, you will learn how to identify opinions, using marking
signals. You will also learn how to express opinions using these
signals.

In distinguishing opinions from facts, there are certain signal words

to look out for. Read the text below and take note of the italicized
phrases and underlined phrases.

A CAPITAL OFFENSE
Emerson A. Pacheco

It seems to me that students are no longer particular about

proper usage of the language.

I guess that improper usage is an effect of widespread social

media format.

Personally, I think that teachers should advocate formal and

proper writing style no matter what the medium is. I feel that
students do not apply what grammar rules they have learned in school
into their online interactions.

The underlined phrases signal the opinion of the author. They are
called opinion-marking signals.

In sharing and expressing our thoughts/opinions, we use phrases

to properly articulate and introduce them. We call them opinion-
marking signals.

There are many ways to signal or mark your opinion, let us take a
look at some of them:

I think…. I believe…. I feel….

I suppose…. I guess…. According to me….
In my view…. In my opinion…. In my eyes….
It seems to me that…. From my perspective….
From my point of view…. From my view point….
As far as I’m concerned…. Personally, I think….
I’d like to point out that…. What I mean is….
Generally, it is thought that…. Some people say that….
Well, it is considered that…. It is generally accepted that….
My impression is that…. I It goes without saying that….
I hold the view that….
