AQUABEST WATER REFILLING
STATION

I. BACKGROUND

It all began when Mr. Carson Tan saw the demand for clean drinking water and used it as a
chance to serve safe drinking water to his fellow citizens at the same time and benefit from it. It
was June 1997that Mr. Carson Tan opened the first Aquabest in Quezon City with a starting
capital of about P1 million, aiming at quenching the appetite of everyone using state-of-the-art
technologies yet at a fair price for pure and safe drinking water. (Denise 2006) Aquabest utilizes
products of high quality, stringent production requirements, and strict quality management
procedures. They are still proud of the use of the new state-of-the-art NASA Reverse-Osmosis
Device technology. Both of these are just to make sure you have clean and healthy drinking
water every day. Mr.Carson Tan's vision of being the best source of affordable and pure water
came true as Aquabest has been successful in opening up 655 stores nationally and operating
nearly successfully now (iFranchise, 2014).

II. STATEMENTOFTHEPROBLEM

A. How did business decide on the location and layout of its facility?

Before they start their business, they sure that the place that will build their business is
clean also it's safe to build and people will need that product they sell to everyone. The location
of the business was based on the needs of the people and the target market. They identified the
site and community of the specific place. The unique layout and design of the stores are
exclusive for its franchisees. The Aquabest has process layout because of the work flow in the
business.

B. What is the main strategy of the business in terms of facility management?

They choose the place that will able to make purified water that can all of their customer
will be safe and also, they choose the facility that will keep them safe.

C. Whatis/are the organizational consideration/s of the company in implementing its strategies?

Their corporation is setting up a water refilling station whereby the station can cater to
water replication by selling big and small quantities.

D. What is/are the initiative/s of the company in terms of health, safety, security of its
employees?

They make sure that their customer is safe even their employees they always want that
everyone will keep safe and healthy especially because of their business is all about water.

E. What type/s of maintenance method/s is/are being employed by the company?

Planned preventive maintenance (PPM) It allows maintenance to be organized and

carried out with fore thought and control, based on a pre-defined plan informed by the results.

III. SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

The summary findings of water refilling stations (Aquabest) are indicated the
improve strategies and planning for the company like they decide by adding new
location while retaining existing ones to maintain a market share or to prevent
their competitors from entering the market and also implicate numerous
strategies by concerning priorities capacity, processes, flexibility, cost, quality of
work, customer contact and especially the company image, organizational
management levels that considered strategically, tactically and operationally,
and implementing strategies like services audit which the services should
critically review the current delivery of services through a comprehensive
examination of existing policy in terms of corporate guidelines and standards and also
resources audit which the company resources should concentrate on the skills of people,
the capability of providers and the status of all procedures and technology. They are also
aware of its responsibilities for health, safety, and
security extend beyond its personnel also they use a maintenance method by
Planned preventive maintenance (PPM) which allows maintenance to be
organized and carried out with forethought and control, based on a predefined
plan informed by the results of condition surveys and inspections. It aims to
avoid or mitigate the consequences of failure and minimize consequential costs Colonel

IV. ALTERNATIVE COURSES OF ACTION

Types of Maintenance Method and its advantage and disadvantage
1. Preventive maintenance (PM)
is the regular and routine maintenance of equipment and assets in order to keep them
running and prevent any costly unplanned downtime from unexpected equipment failure.
Advantage/s:
• Anticipate and prevent the breakdown of equipment and should ideally be performed on
all items of equipment to prevent age-related failure.
• Improved efficiency. (assets in good condition perform better)
Disadvantage/s:
• More labor-intensive, so you'll need more staff on hand
• Upfront costs - keeping equipment well-maintained requires investment.

2. Condition-based maintenance (CBM)

is a maintenance strategy that monitors the actual condition of an asset to decide what maintenance
needs to be done. CBM dictates that maintenance should only be performed when certain indicators
show signs of decreasing performance or upcoming failure.
Advantage/s:
• CBM is performed while the asset is working, which lessens the chances of disruption to
normal operations.
• Monitoring pressure readings on equipment with water systems. Monitoring pressure
levels allows maintenance staff to identify when and where a leak is likely to occur before it
happens, instead of at the point of failure.
Disadvantage/s:
• Condition monitoring test equipment is expensive to install, and databases cost money to
analyze.
• Cost to train staff–you need a knowledgeable professional to analyze the data and perform the
work.
V. RECOMMENDATION

Water quality monitoring which the source of water and product water are
subject to regular monitoring by the local health office or the Department of Health
(DOH) and only the DOH are accredited laboratories to conduct water testing and
analysis. Water refilling stations can be a good source of safe drinking water in the
Philippines. Purified water can meet the aesthetic standards easily detectable by the people in terms
of taste, odor and color. The efficient water purification processes can make the quality of water
superior to the traditional water systems. However, the risk ofcontamination is possible if the
handling practices are not closely monitored (b.b Magtibay 2011). To ensure the production of
safe water in water refilling stations and avoid waterborne diseases, the following aspects all have
to be in place: compliance of
operators to all sanitary requirements; capability of water laboratories to conduct
complete and accurate water testing and analysis; proper operation and maintenance of
water purification equipment; skills of local health office to conduct sanitary surveys and water
quality monitoring; a programmed for water source protection; and a vigorous
information campaign on how to keep delivered water safe at home.

VI. MANAGEMENT LESSON LEARNED

Water refilling stations can be a good source of safe drinking water in the Philippines.
Purified water can meet the aesthetic standards easily detectable by the people in terms of taste,

to the traditional water systems. However, the risk of contamination is possible if the handling
practices are not closely monitored.

And We also learned that we should look at what people needs before we do business and also,
we need to check those facility before we build our establishment and think the customer and
even the employee’s health.
