adjustable speed

40 HP, 1800 RPM, 30 min duty, TENV Vector Drive Motor. Barge towing winch is
installed on a Mississippi River Lock and Dam.

Baldor Adjustable Speed Drive Motors are proven in many tough applications found in today’s
industrial environment. Premium efficiency designs increase energy savings, lower temperature
rise, and increase motor life. Baldor’s integral horsepower motor designs feature cast iron
construction for extra durability. The use of Baldor’s ISR Inverter Spike Resistant® Magnet Wire,
Class H insulation with Class F (or lower) temperature rise, increases motor life. Totally Enclosed
Non-Ventilated (TENV) and Totally Enclosed Blower Cooled (TEBC) motors are designed and
tested for use on adjustable speed controls to ensure maximum performance and adequate
cooling over the motor’s entire speed range. Baldor Inverter Drive® and Vector Drive® motors meet
NEMA MG1-1993, Part 31 requirements.
Baldor also offers a wide range of Explosion-Proof Inverter Drive® Motors, approved for use in
hazardous locations with Baldor Series 15H Inverters, as well as inverters manufactured by other
companies.

ISR Inverter Spike Resistant® Wire
All 200, 230, 460, 575 and 220/380/415 - 50 hertz three phase Baldor AC motors from 1HP to 800
HP are wound with ISR Inverter Spike Resistant® magnet wire. This includes the following Baldor
motor families.

• Super-E® Premium Efficient • Standard-E™ • Inverter Drive®


• Chemical Processing (Complies with EPAct) • Pump
• AC Induction Servo Motors • Washdown Duty® • Dirty Duty®
• Explosion-Proof • Vector Drive®

Baldor motors wound with ISR® wire are up to 100 times more resistant to transient spikes, high
frequencies, and short rise time pulses produced by inverters and vector drives. The result is a
better motor with longer life, reduced downtime and better overall value.

Baldor is the first motor manufacturer to use this new wire in such a wide range of motors, just
like we were the first to use type-MR moisture resistant wire across our entire line over 10 years
ago.

The use of variable speed controls with AC induction motors is growing rapidly. Even if the motor
you’re buying today is not used with a variable speed control, there is a chance that a control

In addition to the Baldor Inverter Drive® and Vector Drive® motors shown in this brochure that are
available from stock, motors are also available as custom for special requirements on OEM
applications. Baldor’s short lead times can supply the motor for your specific application with
special voltage, base speed, Design C torque, extended speed range, C-Face, D-Flange, IEC
metric dimensions, or other application-based needs. Special motors are in use on antenna
positioning drives, automotive dynamometers, centrifuges, spindle-drives, hoists, elevators,
printing presses, pumps, and HVAC equipment.

Washdown Duty Design Characteristics


Specification Description
Bearings Premium double-sealed ball bearings, lubricated with moisture resistant grease for longer life in wet environments.
Drains Multiple drain hole locations with removable plugs maximize drainage and minimize water entry.
Endplates Die-cast aluminum endplates are standard with an electrostatically applied and baked epoxy finish.
Frame & Base A rolled steel frame and base with a baked-on epoxy finish is standard.
