IDAHO CORE
TEACHING STANDARDS
OBJECTIVES
• Reader will understand Idaho core teaching standard, and the
different attributes that are measured in each
• Reader will be familiar with the Charlotte Danielson
framework, the different categories that are laid out, and the
scoring process for each category
IDAHO CORE TEACHING
STANDARDS
• What are they? *these are 10 standards, outlined in the
standards for certification in Idaho, that point out what Idaho
expects of every one of their teachers.
• What is their purpose? *The purpose is to set a baseline of
behavior for teachers to follow and understand in the
classroom. They are meant to challenge, encourage, and
direct teachers in Idaho to be maintaining good classroom
management and relationship.
STANDARD 1: LEARNER
DEVELOPMENT
Teachers must understand the KNOWLEDGE: educator has a basic
growth and development among understanding of how learning
students, and they must recognize occurs, the different learning styles,

• As a future teacher, this is what the state will be evaluating
me on, and it is my job to meet these standards, not only for
the sake of my job and myself, but for the sake of my

CHARLOTTE DANIELSON
• This is a framework that schools use to evaluate their
teachers. It is based on research and science that proves
what a healthy classroom should look like. It consists of 4
domains, and their correlating values.

• Teachers are evaluated on each of the four domains, and
they are given a score between 1-4
• 1= unsatisfactory
• 2= basic
• 3= proficient
• 4= distinguished
IN CONCLUSION
• The Idaho core teaching standards are 10 standards outlined
by the state for teachers to refer to. This is how teachers are
assessed based on Idaho’s standards
• The Charlotte Danielson framework is a system that many
schools use to evaluate their teachers based on how they
plan, how they execute, how they interact with students, and
how they interact with families.
