TITLE OF LESSON/UNIT: Comparatives and Superlatives of the
Adjectives /The Book Exhibition
LESSON TYPE/ACTIVITY: Revision vocabulary and grammar

SPECIFIC COMPETENCES:
1.1 Extracting essential ideas from an oral/written text based on supporting
questions;
1.2 Deduction of the meaning of lexical elements from context;
2.1 Writing instructions, advertisements, journal articles;
4.2 Recording of the information received orally or in writing in the form of
notes with given support.

LESSON AIMS :
- to check the students’ knowledge of the grammar structure and
vocabulary;
- to use the vocabulary related to the topic in productions of their own;
- to check students’general progress in the use of the English language;
- to develop students listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson , the Students will be
able:
 to complete the table with the correct form of the adjectives;
 to identify the correct degrees of the adjectives;
 to use relevant vocabulary connected to the topic;
 to solve the tasks given.
TOPIC AREAS: Vocabulary – Communication – Talking about Clothes;
Grammar focus: Present Simple and Present Continuous.
SKILLS: reading, speaking, writing, listening;
TEACHING AIDS:- Textbook, marker, whiteboard, hand-out (tests).
METHODS: conversation, explanation, exercise, brainstorming.
ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: - there will be explanation, also in Romanian;
- the Ss may have difficulties in understanding
the tasks correctly.

ASSUMPTION : - the teacher’s vocabulary uses consist of words that the
students know ; if not, the meaning of the new words is explained and their
translation is taken down on the whiteboard.
- the students’ eagerness to take part in solving the tasks.
EVALUATION: verbal appreciation, written test.

Activity 1 – Warm-up: Skills (Listening, Speaking and Writing)


Aims: 1: to introduce students into the atmosphere of the lesson;
2: to attract students’attention on the topic.

Procedure Interaction Timing Methods


Teacher greets the Students and asks T- Ss 2’ Conversation
them how they are. After, checks Ss-T
attendance and homework if any. (Whole class)
Teacher writes a sentence using a
proper adjective in a sentence and
encourages the students to give other
examples. The old Spanish book was
sold for more than everyone
expected.

Activity 2 :Lead in: Skills (Listening, Speaking, Writing, Reading)


Aims: 1: to raise expectations and trigger response;
2: to make Ss familiar with the tasks from the test.

Teacher tells the students to look in Frontal 3’ Conversation
their textbook and then writes the
title of the lesson on the board and T-S Explanation
explains to the Ss what she expects
from them by the end of the lesson
(announcing the objectives) also tells
them what they are going to revise.

Activity 3: Consolidation of the previous knowledge: Skills (Listening,
Speaking, Reading, Writing)
Aims:1: to revise students’knowledge;
2: to encourage Ss to complete the tasks paying attention to the
requirements.

Procedure Interaction Timing Methods


1.Teacher asks the Ss to look over T-Ss 25’ Conversation
the text presented in their textbook,
Coming up from the Shadow and Ss-T
then to write the new words in their
notebook. After that, the Ss are asked Exercise
to state the degree of comparison for Individually
the adjectives in the three paragraphs
of the text, then give the other form Brainstorming
on each of them. (Whole class)
Teacher presents a ppt with the
comparatives and superlatives of the
adjectives and asks Ss to pay
attention and listen. Then, T elicits
Ss’ examples.
2. T asks Ss to look over exercise
3/p.109 and label the adjectives rom
the text into the table given.
After that Ss are asked to make
sentences with the adjectives they
found.

Activity 5: Feedback/Follow-up: Skills : Writing, Speaking

T asks Ss to look over exercise T- Ss 10’ Conversation
III/p.109 and read the two Individually
paragraphs presented.
Teacher groups them and asks them Group work

to look over the bolded expressions
and search for their meaning.
They are also asked to try to translate
the bolded expressions from the
texts.
As a home assignments they have to
use the bolded expressions in making
sentences on their own.
