3. How has your self transformed itself?
4. How is your self connected to your body?
5. How is your self related to other selves?
6. What will happen to the body and the soul when you die?

ANSWERS:
1. I can describe myself as an imperfect person but I’m a good son, friend and a fun
person to be around. I consider myself as adventurous and also a helpful person.
2. I think being a confident person. Stop comparing yourself to others. If you still
feel a compelling need to compare – compare yourself to yourself. Measure how
far you’ve come. See how much improvement you’ve made and that being
confidence will automatically make you stand out from the rest.

me. I’m special in my own way of handling things, communicating and many
other stuff but no one in the world is like me.
3. My consciousness is the reason why I transformed myself by itself and to realize
all the things I need to adapt this world.
4. Myself is certainly connected to my body through my feelings, thoughts,
expectations, beliefs, and attitudes.

In relating ourselves with other selves we tend to influence them through the way
how welive, how we handle life and how we keep on pushing through.

ASSESSMENT TASK 1
In your own words, state what “self” is for at least 5 of the philosophers discussed. After
doing so, explain how your concept of “self” is compatible with how they conceived of
the “self.”
- The definition of person is an individual substance with a rational nature. The self is
an individual person.
- For Socrates, life is not worth living if it not examined. For him, the Soul is
synonymous with the Self. He believes that human beings have immortal soul that
lives within the physical body. For plato, there are three elements of the soul:
Reason, Physical Appetite, Spirit or Passion. Reason is the ability of the self to think
critically, and make wise decisions. Physical Appetite is the basic needs of a person,
hunger, thirst and sexual desires. Lastly, Spirit or Passion is composed of the basic
emotions that the self encounters. For Aristotle, the main goal of the self is to leand
a good, flourishing and fulfilling life. For Gilbert Ryle, the self is best understood as
a pattern of behavior, the capacity of a person to act and make a move in certain
ways and conditions. For Sigmund Freud, there are three layers of the self:
Conscious, Unconscious, and Preconscious.
- So the human self, is a filter in which we get to use to create or attempt to create our
own realities and then experience the outcome of that creation. The challenging part
is sifting through all these selves or even recognizing that the selves exist in the first
place. Therefore, only the ego can deny it's own existence while the human creates
it's own reality.
ASSESSMENT TASK 2
Using the same guide questions in your activity above, write a four-stanza poem that
will reflect your idea on self. Please be guided with the rubrics below. “I”
