Chapter 3

Research Design

This chapter focuses on the researcher's research methods and procedures to

systematically answer the particular questions that have been present in the study. This chapter

contains the research design, sampling process, and sample, research instruments, data collection

technique, and data analysis.

This research proposal used a quantitative approach and a correlational design. A

Correlational research design is a type of non-experimental research method in which a

researcher measures two variables, understands and assesses the statistical relationship between

them with no influence from any extraneous variable. The researchers used the Correlational

Research Design as it is sufficient to understand the study. The purpose of this research is to

determine the impact of online education on the learning capability of National Christian Life

College academic strand students in Junior High School and Senior High School. Researchers

examined the relationship between two variables, online education (independent variable) and

learning capability (independent variable).

Research Instruments, and Its Validity and Reliability

This study aims to know the Impact of Online Education to the Learning Capability of

Senior High School Students of National Christian Life College. Survey-questionnaire method

was used in research instrument for data gathering. The scale used in research was the

combination of Likert scale and semantic differential. To ensure the reliability of the research,

the researchers used test-retest reliability. Requiring accessible participants to answer the same
questionnaire twice, separately. The research validity is measured by its content objectivity. Its

main objective is knowing the effectiveness of online education on student’s cognition. The

questions in the survey assesses the situation of the students in online education, how are they

learning, and what are the problems they are facing.

Data Gathering Procedure

The researchers had allotted vigorous time, effort, and cooperation in developing a

questionnaire for its intended respondents. The researchers determined the population of Senior
High students in National Christian Life College and how many students per strand are enrolled.

The students that are enrolled in the academic track— STEM, ABM, HUMSS, and GAS strand

are chosen by the researchers to partake in answering the questionnaire for the research that is

being conducted.

The researchers agreed on how many questions will be put on the survey. The task is

distributed to the researchers to create and modify the questions for the questionnaire. The

survey questionnaire was created on freeonlinesurveys.com. It is consists of suitable questions

that are formed by the researchers that will help to determine the impact of online education on

the learning capability of Senior High students of National Christian Life College. The

researchers sent the link of the survey form along with the consent letter to the selected

participants through Facebook Messenger. There is no allotted time in answering the survey to

avoid the rush and hurry in answering. After collecting all the data, the researchers tabulated and

tallied the survey. The data that is collected will be a basis for analyzing and interpreting the

research that is being conducted. The result can be used by other researchers as a reference for

another study.
