Module Paper 2 GED109-C5

I. Introduction

The connection among gender and violence is intricate. The various jobs and

practices of males and females, youngsters just as grown-ups, are formed and built up

by gender standards inside society. Contrasts in gender roles and practices frequently

make disparities, whereby one sex gets enabled to the detriment of the other. Women’s

privileges are the opportunity and qualification of women of basic freedoms without

discrimination or infringement. Women's rights are rights intrinsic in nature and ensured

by law. Harmful gender stereotypes, unbending developments of womanhood and

manliness and generalized gender roles are a main cause of gender-based violence

against women. Consequently, gender discrimination and violence against women are

in opposition to crucial common liberties, value, characteristic equity, and great

administration. Violence against women, Gender Discrimination, and Gender Inequality

are as yet present locally, it is essential to talk about these points to give data on what

are the harmful impacts of these issues in the event that we will not make an answer for

them.

II. Discussion

a) Issues Confronting Women

Violence against women is any act of gender-based violence that results or is

likely to result in physical, sexual, or psychological harm or suffering to women including

threats or such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty whether occurring in

public or private life. Cultural standards and customs direct individuals to believe that

men are the pioneers, followers, and suppliers, and take on the predominant parts in the

civilization while women are the nurturers, men's colleagues, and allies, and take on the

subordinate jobs in the community. This insight drives men to acquire control over

ladies. Subsequently, Violence against women turns into a type of men's demeanor of

command over ladies to hold power. A few reasons for violence against women are: (1)

men cannot control their anger or sexual urges (2) alcohol causes men to be violent (3)

the unequal distribution of power and resources between men and women.

b) Gender Inequality

Gender Discrimination is any inconsistent treatment dependent on sex that

explicitly denies privileges or compensations to an individual in light of sexual

orientation. While most gender discrimination is coordinated toward women, it is

workable for anybody to be victimized in view of gender. A portion of the reasons for
gender discrimination are outmoded social expectations, distorted beliefs, personal

senses of entitlement, and outright bigotry. Gender discrimination significantly

influences society by and large. It does not just influence a specific fragment of society

anyway all parts of it.

c) Issues confronting LGBTQIA

In the Philippines, there are insufficient laws to help the LGBT people group.

Individuals who are essential for this community regularly experience discrimination,

bullying, and abuse starting at a very young age. In this country, the community is not

fully accepted but merely tolerated. Allow us all to recall that it is not just men and

women who ought to be thought of at the point when gender equality is examined.

Genuine sex correspondence manages the strengthening of the minimized areas of

society; men who are mishandled and teased because of social inconsistencies, ladies

who are denied of their fundamental rights, and the LGBTQ people group that keeps on

confronting discrimination and scorn, which block their maximum capacity as people

also, individuals.

III. Stand

Violence against women is the urgent component that supports men's force and

authority over ladies all through the world. I participate in the culture that supports and

encourages other people to stop and prevent the violence against women. Rape culture

is a major example of violence against women which permits sexual brutality to be

standardized and defended, energized by the diligent sex disparities and perspectives

about sex and sexuality. We need to stop victim-blaming, what a woman is wearing,

what and the amount she needed to drink, and where she was at a specific time, is not

an encouragement to rape her. We need to stand up for the victims and educate the

future generations about confirming their decisions and showing the significance of

assent at a youthful age. Again, I am against the violence against women, and it needs

to stop now.

Equality is tied in with guaranteeing that each individual has an equivalent chance to

capitalize on their lives and abilities. It is additionally the conviction that nobody ought to

have less fortunate life chances due to the manner in which they were conceived, where

they come from, what they accept, or whether they have an inability. Everybody is

influenced by gender inequalities such as ladies, men, trans, and sex assorted

individuals, kids, and families. We need gender balance direly. Gender Equality

forestalls viciousness against ladies and young ladies. I think sexual orientation

correspondence is an objective to make this entire world realizes that ladies are likewise
have the rights to change the world. Gender Equality is very important to have a better

society and a better relationship with other people.

Respect for LGBT community should start from local governments, they ought to

authorize neighborhood mandates forbidding discrimination addicted to sexual

orientation and gender in training, business, medical services, and public facilities. Also,

in schools wherein most of the LGBT students experience violence. School

administrators should adopt anti-bullying and anti-discrimination policies that include

sexual orientation and personal identity, inform students about the way to report bullying

incidents, and spell out the results of bullying. Equality and rights given by the

international human rights law are applicable to all or any people, no matter their sex

and personal identity. It is important to treat people equally with respect because we are

all humans. I definitely stand with the LGBT community to fight for his or her rights for

them to be fully accepted.

IV. Insights

I used to think that laws are indeed powerful and so I believe that all members of the

LGBTQ community must be protected by our country’s laws for they have their own

rights as citizens. After learning key concepts in Module 2 of GED109, I now have a

clearer vison about why homosexuals or any members of the community are still not

being completely accepted by some Filipinos. This is because even in the past, no laws
were implemented which recognize the rights of homosexual individuals, making it

harder for them to be accepted by the society.

I used to think that we are continuously fighting to end the battle against the violence

against women and we are winning against it. After learning key concepts in Module 2

of GED109, I now think that we still have a lot of things to do in order to stop the

violence against women. There are still lot of percentage of women and children who

are still suffering from physical and sexual abuse. Mostly, all of these kinds of abuses

are from their intimate partners. We really need to work on this issue and educate

people while they are still young.

I used to think that in the Philippine setting, when you become adult and have a

stable job, any gender is being treated equally. After learning key concepts in Module 2

of GED109, I now think that even after you graduated and have a stable job, you can

still experience gender inequality in terms of income which is called gender pay gap.

You can also experience sexual harassment especially on public places and

workplaces. We still need to be careful up until we have defeated gender discrimination

and have achieved gender equality in our country.

V. Photos
1. Women’s Rights

 Every woman has the rights to fight for themselves regardless of what

race they have came from, we should not take advantage of them and we

should not harm them just because we want to.

2. Job Discrimination

 Fair employment should be implemented in all the countries. Every person

deserves to have a job in order for them to attain the basic needs. We

should not be discriminated in our jobs regardless of our race, gender, and

identity.
3. Gender Pay Gap

 The country should not tolerate pay gaps based on gender. People

deserve to be treated and paid equally regardless of their gender because

they worked hard for that.

4. Gender Equality

 Again, each and every person should be treated equally. We are all

humans, and we should not be above any other people, we should not

take advantage of the people who cannot fight for themselves. We should

respect other people and treat them as a family.

5. LGBTQIA Rights

 Their rights are the same as our rights. We need to fight alongside them

because they are just like us, they are also humans like us. Their rights

are important to stop gender discrimination, gender bias and gender

inequality. They belong to our society; they are suitable to be treated

equally.
