One factor that contributes in the growth and development of the culture of our
country is when we enrich and preserve them particularly when it comes to folk dances.
Know how they originated as for where are these dances located. Various places, artifacts,
websites, and journals may provide information regarding such folk dances. Upon checking
the related literatures about the nature and background of Oasioas, another Pangasinan
folk dance, the researcher noticed that there are adequate or sufficient information in the
Philippines about these cultural dances positively affect the country's growth and
development same with how these empower the culture and traditions of certain places
where they are located respectively. There are articles or study folk dances in the country
but its mere focus is more defining the nature of the dances as well as explaining how the

INTRODUCTION
As years passed by, Pangasinan folk dances are getting a grip of it again, by
empowering the local cultural events- one of that is folk dance. They do this in order to
empower and support their provincial government as they revive the dances in the last

“Oasioas,” which originated from the capital town of Lingayen, Pangasinan, is folk
dance and also a celebration in accordance to fishermen’s good catch. The dancers use
lamps that are wrapped in net during the performance and they execute and perform the
dance in a graceful manner. The dance was originally a Spanish Fandango dance coming
from the fishing town of Lingayen in Pangasinan. They celebrate when they have a good
catch of fish and they celebrate by drinking and dancing subsequently accompanied by
