    MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS

    NOTIFICATION

    New Delhi, the 14th July, 2020

    S.O. 2339(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (6) of section 41 of the

    Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988), the Central Government hereby makes the following

    further amendments in the notification of Government of India in the erstwhile Ministry of

    Surface Transport number S.O.444(E), dated the 12th June, 1989.

    Note: This SO for Alpha numeric colour and Background colour of vehicle number plates.

    Transport Black Yellow All commercial vehicles like autos, taxis and
    trucks will have a yellow plate with black text.
    Transport Vehicles Yellow Black These kind of vehicles are commercial vehicles
    under Rent- a- Cab that are available on rent for self-drive.

    Diplomat consular/ White Deep Blue All the foreign mission vehicles will have

    Consular Post (registration Yellow Deep Blue These number plates will have special
    mark consisting of Letter codes like UN, CC or IOC which means
    (UN/ CC/ IOC) United Nations, Consular Corps,
    International Olympic Committee

    for dealer to use the vehicle before
    sold.
