Road Safety

Site Speed Limit : 20 KM / HR


Increase of manpower and movement of more vehicles inside refinery is the
biggest threat to the road safety. Road incidents are increasing at site due to not
following traffic rules and lack of awareness among the road users. Continuous
spot checking of vehicles and training for the drivers / operators is going on.
Improvement is required in many areas with cooperation from each individuals.
Causes for the Road Accident
• Speeding – Inattentiveness– Lack of discipline.
• Ignoring site traffic / safety rules.
• Incompetent drivers / operators etc.
• Condition of roads and access on site.
• Use of mobile phone while driving.
• Unauthorized parking of vehicles and storage of materials on road.

Safety Measures:
• Be attentive, look, listen and act while travelling on roads.
• Conduct daily regular checking of vehicle prior to start.
• Follow traffic rules and travel on left side of the road.
• Wear reflective jackets during night while travelling on road.
• Use crash helmet while driving two wheeler. Use seat belt.
• Advise drivers to follow traffic rules, speed limit while sitting on the vehicle.
• Discuss every day at least one traffic safety issue in the tool box meeting.
• Make sure the engagement of competent experienced driver / operator at job.
• Conduct regular weekly tool box meeting / training for drivers / operators.
• Ensure banks man availability with lifting equipment, while working at site.
• Make schedule for checking of “Industrial Vehicles and Lifting Equipment” in
the weekly walk through at site.
