3 Starting the User Interface

Insert the HIMA DVD 'Software.Nonstop.' into the DVD drive. The DVD user interface starts automatically after a few
seconds.
Start the DVD user interface manually if certain settings were used (if the Auto-Run function of the DVD drive is deacti-
vated). In this case, double-click the “index.htm” file in the DVD root directory.
Select Products, ELOP II from the menu bar and open the ELOP II's Installation page. Perform then all the steps re-
quired to install ELOP II.

4 Installation
ELOP II V5.1 uses a hardlock as licensing method. Install the hardlock drive and ELOP II on the PC. Follow the set-up
instructions.

Installation notes for the hardlock driver:

1. Windows administrator rights on the PC are required to install the hardlock driver.

2. Ensure that the hardlock is not connected to the PC.

If a USB hardlock is used and already plugged in, remove the hardlock and restart the PC.

3. Install the hardlock drive and connect the hardlock to the PC.
The hardlock is recognized automatically. The LED on the USB hardlock is lit.

Installation notes for ELOP II V5.1:

1. Windows administrator rights on the PC are required to install ELOP II V5.1.

Upon completion of the installation process, ELOP II version 5.1 can be used with all Windows user accounts of
the current workstation. User privileges of group Users are sufficient for operating ELOP II V5.1.

2. Have you already installed a previous version of ELOP II?

When installing ELOP II V5.1, do not use the same installation directory as the previous version but create a
new installation directory for ELOP II V5.1.

3. The installation language (e.g., German) is used as default language for ELOP II V5.1. Upon completion of the
installation process, however, it is possible to change the language, e.g., to English (use Administration located
in the Control Center).

4. The hardlock delivered with ELOP II V5.1 was already activated for the corresponding version. If a hardlock for
a previous licence is in use, follow the instructions specified in Chapter 5 to activate it.

5 Activating the hardlock

This chapter provides instructions on how to activate hardlocks using a previous license and the activation signatures
for additional functions.

5.1 Activating ELOP II V5.1

An upgrade with a valid activation signature is required for activating ELOP II V5.1 on each desired hardlock with a
previous license. Once the hardlock has been activated, it can be used for ELOP II V5.1 and all the previous ver-
sions.

Perform the following steps to activate the hardlock:

Step 1: Start after the installation of ELOP II V5.1. If the version has not been activated yet, an error message appears.

Click OK. The Activate Feature dialog box for entering the activation signature is displayed.

Step 2: In the Activate Feature dialog box, enter the activation signature.

Click Apply to confirm the action.

Step 3: If the activation was successful, the following message appears:

The hardlock has been enabled successfully. This hardlock can now be used to start ELOP II V5.1. Repeat the
previous steps for each hardlock for which ELOP II V5.1 should be activated.

Step 4: If the activation was not successful, the following error message appears:

The current version could not be activated for the hardlock!

Potential causes:
 Incorrect entries.
 Case sensitivity was ignored.
 O used instead of 0 (zero), or vice versa.
 Blanks at the end of the signature.
 The entry has less than 15 characters.
Click OK to confirm the error message and enter a new activation signature.

If a new error message appears after properly entering the signature, the activation signature used is invalid or
does not comply with the hardlock's serial number, see Chapter 6.

Close the Activate Feature dialog box and confirm the message.

5.2 Activating ELOP II V5.1 for Previous Hardlocks

In addition to the ELOP II V5.1 activation signature, a language activation is required for previous hardlocks (before
mid-2006).
In the ELOP II's command prompt, enter the following language activation, which applies for every hardlock:
HLSIGSET -SIGC:npqe85h-zs3oqw0

5.3 Activating XML

An activation applying for every hardlock is required for the XML Import/ Export feature.
XML Import: HLSIGSET -SIGC: n52aq8t-j9mzgml
XML Export: HLSIGSET -SIGC: n52aq8t-mlbmnf4

To enter the activation signature, select Tools, Activate Feature from the ELOP II's menu bar or use the ELOP II's
command prompt, see Chapter 6.

6 Using the ELOP II Control Center

The ELOP II's command prompt is required to perform the actions described in this chapter. It is opened as follows:
 Open the ELOP II Control Center.
 Open the ELOP II command prompt.

6.1.1 Reading out the hardlock OEM user no.

The hardlock's OEM user no. is required to obtain a valid signature for the current ELOP II version from HIMA sup-
port:
 Enter LCHLView in the ELOP II's command prompt
 Read out the OEM user no.
 Please contact the HIMA support and indicate the OEM user no. (e.g., 153), to obtain a valid signature for
the current ELOP II version.

7 Parallel Installation of ELOP II

ELOP II version 3.0 and beyond can parallel be installed and operated under the same windows user. Use separate in-
stallation paths when installing different ELOP II versions.

8 Converting Existing ELOP II Projects to V5.1

A project created with ELOP II V4.1 can be directly converted to ELOP II V5.1.

The conversion cannot be undone. Save the project data before converting the project.
Please refer to the document (HI 800 185 E) for more information on the conversion procedure!
