ANNUAL EVALUATION

VAMSHI PATTIKA

PRE -NOVICATE 2021

INTRODUCTION :

I am Vamshi from Andhra Pradesh. We are ten in our family. My

father’s name is Mr. ………………India and he is a farmer. My mother’s name Mrs.…………..
Gayari and she is a home maker. I have two elder sisters. Their names are Revathi and Sramala.
I have an elder brother. His name is Govinda Rao and I have a brother who is physically
challenged. His name is Kumar.

I have completed my 2nd PUC at GL puram in Andhra Pradesh. Then I surrendered

myself to join in the seminary of Montfort congregation in Mysore. This is my 2 nd year of my
seminary life. I am very delighted to be a part of this Montfort congregation.

VOCATION STORY:

I am very happy to write about my vocation story. While I was doing my 2 nd PUC, I got
vocation to become a priest. Then I changed myself totally because of the presence of God. This
is my own desire and ambition to become a priest to serve the people. I was inspired by my
parish priest. I like the way he preaches the word of God. I like not only his preaching but also
the helping tendency to the poor who are in need.

By seeing this I was really inspired and it touched my heart. I have seen him helping the
poor often. Then I came to my home. I knelt before the Lord and prayed to him. Then I
dedicated myself completely to the almighty. My ambition is to become a priest, to help the
poor and to preach the word of God. I went and inform my parent that I would like to become a
priest and I want to serve the people on his Holy name. My parent accepted my wish and I was
very ecstatic.
I went and met my parish priest Rev.Fr.Kiran and I conveyed him that I would like to go
to the seminary. Rev.Fr.Kiran came to my home to speak with my parent. After meeting my
parent he promised that he would accompany me to go to the seminary which was in Mysore.

Miracles are everywhere to be found when priesthood callings are magnified. When faith
replaces doubt, when selfless service eliminates selfish striving, the power of God brings to pass
His purposes. The priesthood is not really so much a gift as it is a commission to serve, a
privilege to lift, and an opportunity to bless the lives of others.

PRAYER LIFE:

My prayer life was in a pathetic condition, because without proper guidance I could not
make the habit of praying personally. But after joining in Gurumandir, I learnt to pray. Slowly I
wished I could pray to God. I was blissful to pray more and more, I involved in my community
prayers. My  Spirituality Statement clearly defines my way of life.

My life as a brother is sustained by God’s call to be in relationship and to spend time in

prayer with God. This personal relationship maintains me in continuous awareness of God and
enables me to live in Christ and to respond to God’s wish. The Eucharist is the source of our
unity with one another. Together we participate in the prayer every day. I take time throughout
the year for times of reflection and prayer. My personal prayer is going well and making good
relationship with god in my life. Through my prayer life I have learnt lots of activities and the
spiritual studies.

In Montfort Nivas, I have learnt to pray, to sing, and to pray Rosary in different
languages. Prayer life is salient in my life. Sometimes I failed to have my personal prayer.
Sometimes I was distracted while I was praying as well as in meditation. But after the
corrections from my formatter Rev.Fr.Amalraj, I had a good touch in my personal prayer.

COMMUNITY LIFE :

I am very happy about my community life. My Brothers don’t try to

change me. They accept my personality and live out the family values of respect, service to one
another and gratitude. All the while, they encourage me to grow as a man of faith and as a
disciple of Christ. All the facilities are available in this community.
My companions are very helpful to me to do the things which are needed in my life. They
motivated me to lead my life in a good way. What I have learnt from my community is to do all
the activities together like praying, playing, manual works, and the other cultural activities.
Sometime I was not adjusting with my companions because of my laziness. But, after the
correction of my superior and direction I am enjoying my community life along with my
formatter and the companions.

SOCIAL LIFE :

Our communities are our homes, where we share life together, friendship and
fraternity with our fellow Brothers, trust and respect. It is the place where we share joys of and
challenges of life accompanying one another. Through daily prayer, sharing meals together,
social activities, and ministry we are present and active in one another’s lives.

I had a great experience here. My ministry was a great joy for me because I loved the
people and children with whom I spoke and whom I consoled. My relationship with them was
really good. I also leant many things through my ministry. Visiting the village people and
praying for them are the significance of my missionary life. Then my experience in farming was
good. Even though I knew a bit about farming I learnt much in this house. With these
experiences I can live anywhere.

MONTFORTIAN LIFE :

Being a Montfortian I am happy to serve in the remote areas

which is very difficult to handle. When I joined the seminary in gurumandir I had no idea about
the missionary life. I slowly started learning one by one. When I entered in Montfort Nivas I
came to know about the missionary life. I realized how our fathers are working and how they
are moving with the people. We have good relationship with others.

I am cheerful to be a Montfortian. In order to make quite clear our determination to work

in the service of God and of men, we commit ourselves to live in a community dedicated to
witnessing the presence of the kingdom, to proclaim, welcome and spread it is coming in the
world.
INTELLECTUAL LIFE:

Seminary formation is a process of continuous personal growth and

development of a man aimed toward the goal of priestly ordination.  It is a program of
preparation and formation of the whole man in the context of the four areas of Human, Pastoral,
Intellectual, and Spiritual growth.

In the beginning, I was writing new vocabulary and journal to enrich my language; I was
drawing the picture, and reading books in order to be creative. My community has given me lot
of opportunity to improve my intellectual growth.

We had classes on prayer, table manners, Bible, spirituality of Montfort, values,

motivation, sexuality, leadership, sacraments, community life, religious life, anger management,
chart presentation on bible, grammar, computer skill, serial lights making, and art works. All
these classes were helpful to me to enrich my language and studies.

CONCLUSION:

I am very grateful to my superior and to my companions. My formatter had

trained me and helped me in various aspects to improve my language. He has encouraged me in
all the areas of formation process. Now I am strong. Whatever I have learnt here in this pre-
novitiate will be really useful to shine in my life. But, I feel that I am not eligible enough to
enter into the novitiate. So I request you to extend the duration of my pre-novitiate for one more
year. With this let me place a full stop for my text.

Thank you

Yours faithfully,

Vamshi P
