LATITUDE:
Horizontal lines called latitudes across
Earth's surface to locate points on the
globe.

LONGITUDE:
Vertical lines called longitudes across
Earth's surface to locate points on the
globe.
IMPORTANT TERMS

EQUATOR:
An equator is an imaginary line
around the middle of globe. It is
halfway between the North Pole and
the South Pole, at 0 degrees
latitude.
PRIME MERIDIAN:
An imaginary line on Earth that
passes north to south through
the Greenwich in London, England.
The prime meridian divides Earth
into the Eastern Hemisphere and
the Western Hemisphere. The prime
meridian is at 0° (0 degrees)
longitude.
IMPORTANT TERMS

Tropic of Cancer
The latitude 23.5° North is also
known as the Tropic of Cancer. It
marks the northern-most position
on the Earth, where the Sun is
directly overhead at least once a
year. This happens during
the June Solstice, when the
Earth’s Northern Hemisphere is
tilted towards the Sun.

CENTRAL AND SOUTH ASIA

• Nepal, Bhutan, Maldeves are located in


South Asia at the Eastern side of Pakistan
after crossing India. Link these states with
other regions.
• It connects all four different regions of the
world.
• From west it border with amiddle east.
• From north western side border with
central Asia.
• From north bordered with East Asia.
• From east bordered with south Asia.
• From south bordered with Indian ocean.
So from ocean it connects eastern world to
the western world.
