COLLABORATIVE LEARNING LESSON PLAN

I. Pre-Design Phase
Topic/Lesson: What is Research and Its Importance?
Lesson Duration: 1 hour
Subject/Course: Practical Research I
Grade/Year Level: Grade 11
Materials/Equipment: Powerpoint Presentation, Smart TV, Reference Book
II. Conducting the Lesson
Learning Objectives: The learner demonstrates understanding of:
1. The importance of research in daily life
2. The characteristics, processes and ethics of
research
3. Quantitative and qualitative research
4. The kinds of research across fields
Lesson Procedures: I. The teacher shall present the learning objectives for
the day so that the students shall be guided
accordingly.The teacher shall introduce Activity No. 1
which is entitled “Chat Station”. The class will be
divided into 4 groups, and each group shall assign a
leader or a rapporteur. Each group as well is assigned
a specific question to discuss and answer. For 5
minutes, the group members shall discuss and
brainstorm among themselves on how they shall
arrive at an answer to the task assigned them. The
group leader is tasked to take down important notes
from the brainstorming process.

II. The teacher shall then tell the students to take note
of what had transpired in the brainstorming process,
as they will be needing such knowledge in the next
learning activities.

III. The class shall now do Activity No. 2 which is


entitled “Jigsaw Method”. The group leader/rapporteur
is tasked to bring with him/her the question/task
assigned in his/her group as well as the notes that
he/she has written in the brainstorming process.
He/She then goes to each of the other groups and
share to them what have been discussed his/her
original group. Each leader is given 4 minutes for
every group to do the task of sharing the information
following counterclockwise direction until he/she is
finished discussing in all of the other remaining
groups. The group members may ask anything about
the sharing that the leader/rapporteur has discussed
to them.

IV. Each group shall now do Activity No. 3 which is


entitled “Reporting Galore”. Through the group leader,
he/she shall present and discuss briefly to the class
their assigned task. Starting with the Group 4 then
Group 3, Group 2 and Group 1. The teacher shall
facilitate by asking some questions to the presenters.

V. As a recapitulation of what has transpired in the


first two activities, the entire class is asked to watch a
video clip discussing the definition of research and its
importance to daily life.

VI. As a final activity, the students shall watch a short


video clip once again that contains a story with a
moral lesson or Activity #4 titled Watch Me! The
students shall then evaluate the video clip by
discussing its relationship or connection to the study
of research. Some volunteers shall be asked to share
their thoughts in class. In an oral presentation, the
students shall be presenting their critique or review of
the clip.

III. Evaluation
As a final activity, the students shall watch a short video clip once again that contains a
story with a moral lesson. The students shall then evaluate the video clip by discussing its
relationship or connection to the study of research. Some volunteers shall be asked to share
their thoughts in class. In an oral presentation, the students shall be presenting their critique
or review of the clip. They will be graded through a rubric. (See attached)
