RBS 6101

Multi-standard small outdoor macro base station

Next-generation site in a cabinet

The RBS 6101 small outdoor macro base sta-

tion is the next-generation, multi-standard base
station that provides a complete site in a single
cabinet. RBS 6000 is built with leading-edge
technology, designed to meet increasingly
complex operator requirements, while remain-
ing backward-compatible with Ericsson’s highly
successful RBS 2000 and RBS 3000 product
families.

The RBS 6000 series is designed to sup-

port a mix of GSM, WCDMA and LTE in the
same RBS and ensure a smooth transition to
next-generation technologies, while providing
exceptional GSM and WCDMA capacity
to meet current and future market needs.

The RBS 6101 takes integration and modular

building practices to the next level and pro-
vides capacity per footprint and volume that is
unprecedented. With a footprint of just 0.49 m2
(700 x 700 mm), the RBS is able to deliver up
to 24 GSM TRXs or 12 WCDMA MIMO carriers
or 20 MHz LTE MIMO bandwidth. Besides the
mentioned maximal configurations in a single
standard configuration, the RBS supports a
flexible mix of GSM, WCDMA and LTE radio
units, e.g. dual band configurations. Moreover,
the entire site, including transmission and
power, is integrated in a single cabinet.

Battery back up can be supported with a unit

underneath the base station, BBU 6101, or
beside the cabinet BBS 6101. In the picture on
the right the RBS 6101 is shown together with
BBS 6101.
The RBS 6101 delivers cost-effective capacity and
coverage that is unrivaled in the industry. The RBS
6000 serie features a common management system
for all radio technologies, transmission, antenna
system and site power. This ensures optimal
operation, minimal maintenance and low
power consumption.

The RBS 6101 is ideal for both new roll-out and

modernization scenarios. With its ability to deliver
high bit rates and capacity, it is a natural choice for
high capacity multi-standard radio network
installations in metro and urban areas.

Furthermore, the RBS 6101 is an ideal selection for

ground-level installations, for instance in suburban
and rural areas. In a modernization scenario, the RBS
6101 with its multi-standard radio in a single cabinet
can replace as many as two existing cabinets.
