Topic: The Effect of Smartphone Addiction to Our Health

Introduction

Mobile phones emit radiofrequency energy, a form of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation,


which can be absorbed by tissues close to the phone. Scientists have reported adverse health effects
of using mobile phones including changes in brain activity, reaction times, and sleep patterns.
Smartphone or Internet addiction can also negatively impact your life by: Increasing loneliness
and depression. While it may seem that losing yourself online will temporarily make feelings such
as loneliness, depression, and boredom evaporate into thin air, it can actually make human feel
even worse. Overuse of your cell phone or smartphone can result in a number of different physical
problems that may cause permanent damage or be difficult to treat, including: Digital eye strain.
The pain and discomfort associated with viewing a digital screen for over 2 hours. Eyes begin to
burn and itch. Using Your Smartphone in The Dark Risks Speeding Up Vision Loss. The blue light
that emits from your smartphone and laptop screens may seem harmless, but according to new
research, it can be toxic for your eyes.

Objectives

i. To share the awareness side effect of smartphone addiction to all the Sultan Idris Education
University students.
ii. To learn more about the effect of smartphone addiction toward he human health.
Justify why this topic is interesting to study and the relevance of this study to your (and your
classmate) knowledge

This topic is interesting to study because 100% of student at UPSI are using a smartphone in their
daily life. Smartphone is such as vey importance communication tool in human life today. We use
the smartphone to study, chatting in WhatsApp’s, Facebook, Instagram, watching videos and so
on. There are many benefits of using smartphone such as for communication. Besides making
phone calls, nearly all smartphones today can natively provide directions through GPS, take
pictures, play music and keep track of appointments and contacts. Through the installation of apps,
the list of possible smartphone uses multiplies by tens of thousands and grows longer every day.
Among the young people, students are increasingly using Smartphone. But
excessive Smartphone usage usually makes the students addicted to that
subconsciously impacts on user's academic performance, daily activities, physical and mental
health and withdrawal tendency, and social relationships.
